Palworld developer Pocketpair have recently revealed a fresh roadmap of what's to come for the popular monster catching survival game. There's still no update yet on the Nintendo and Pokemon lawsuit, hopefully we'll see a resolution to that sometime soon.

To celebrate the first anniversary they've revealed their upcoming plans which includes:

  • CO-OP Crossplay.
  • World Transfers for Pals.
  • World Tree / Ending Scenario.
  • Further ways to strengthen and improve Pals.
  • Various new content such as new Pals and technologies.
  • Game Collaborations (Including Terraria).
  • Improvements to world object placement.
  • Improvements to base Pals.
  • Improvements to optimization.
  • Improvements to UX.

If you missed it the developer also recently launched Pocketpair Publishing.

Palworld works on Linux Desktop with Proton, and Valve rated it Steam Deck Playable (it has a lot of issues). Would be nice if Pocketpair would also work on improving how it runs on Steam Deck where it would be a really good fit if they put some effort into it.

It's continued to see a lot of players since the recent Feybreak update with it seeing a 24 hour peak player count of 96,808.

Palworld | Release Date: 19th January 2024

Crossplay could potentially interest me and my console friends to jump in this game.

I saw an interview a while ago with a Palworld dev and he talked about how the live temporary service concept doesn't apply to their game, as a response to those who said the game "died" after its initial boom. It was a breath of fresh air hearing that, not every game has to be subject to the social media rules of trends and hype waves, and so I highly respect the studio for their -sadly- oldschool take on the matter (and also for sticking it to Nintendo ).

I hope it is true crossplay and not limited between only subsets of platforms.
Have they confirmed that xbox, ps5 and pc will land in the same pools?

I've been waiting for crossplay since release because I want to play with a few friends. Glad to see it might finally be here soon.

Everyone's raving about Palworld, including at my workplace it would seem, as they were talking about it today... But I really wish they'd work on Steam Deck support.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm certainly keen to pick this up; but whilst there's so many issues with the Steam Deck, which seem to come and go with each update / upgrade of Palworld, I just can't justify it.

So I'll continue to sit here and grumble, until Pocketpair "pull their thumb out" and work on Steam Deck support... If they actually put some effort in (to Steam Deck support), I'll probably even wait until it's not on sale to buy the game (it costs me more, but it's my way of "thanking" developers for Linux or Steam Deck support).
