Build up a deck of dice in Die in the Dungeon, where all your dice have a different purpose that you stack up together to make crazy combinations. As a big fan of games like Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons, this looks like a really fun mixture that's probably going to suck away lots of my time when it arrives.

More: "In Die in the Dungeon, each dice represents a different action, from basic ones like attacking or healing to boosting other dice or copying their abilities. Improve the quality of your dice, combine them and acquire powerful relics to defeat the monsters that dwell in the dungeon! Find great synergies by combining dice with unique abilities to create powerful and bizarre decks!"

The developers announced it's set for launch on February 21st with a brand new trailer:

Highlights

  • Craft your deck from an ever-growing collection of dice.
Every dice has its purpose, with tons of combinations to discover and exploit. On top of that, special properties and upgrades will ensure no single dice feel exactly the same.
  • Explore the dungeon and its unwelcoming inhabitants.
Forged by strong magic, the walls and floors of the dungeon shift continuously, creating a brand new experience in every run. Thankfully, encounters are not always hostile, but never let your guard down... it’s all a game of risk and reward down here.
  • Discover powerful synergies by choosing from a myriad of relics.
Stack their powers and use them to boost your dice and board slots, multiplying the power of your combinations and becoming unstoppable. But don’t get too greedy, the stronger a relic is, the bigger their drawbacks will affect you and your deck.

I got utterly hooked on this during its demo season, and I've been waiting impatiently for this announcement! Amazing synergies possible with this one and that was with the demo limiting what was planned. I can't wait for this to release. Another month though, goddamit!

Happened across an early version of this on Itch a couple of years ago, and it was pretty solid then, although very simple. Kind of disappointing they seem to have no plans at this point to put the full version there, although they did make the free prologue available so who knows.

The demo was great though, interested to see how the full game ends up.

Two of my favorite Steam Deck games are Dicey Dungeons and Dice & Fold. These games allow a player to hop in, play for as much time as available and then jump out. Both games lend themselves well to the Steam Deck controls and the developers have invested time in making the games easily playable on the Steam Deck. Die in the Dungeon looks like something I would enjoy. It will be interesting to see if the developers of Die in the Dungeon spend the time needed to make the game play well on the Steam Deck.

Usually when people mix up the singular and plural forms of the chance polyhedrals it's using "dice" to refer to a single die, but this should clearly be titled Dice in the Dungeon, you're definitely using more than one!

Ah, Philadelphus, the tribulations of pitting a terrible pun vs. grammatical correctness . . . either way you lose!
