Luanti (formerly Minetest) has a new release out, which finally adds an in-game settings menu so you don't have to quit your current game to adjust things. Something missing that was definitely felt from it.

Even with the settings menu now in-game, not every setting supports live changes, they said some may still require you to reconnect. Hopefully over time they can reduce the amount of settings that require you to do that.

For people on devices with touchscreens, there's also a new layout editor so you can setup the controls how you want.

When going to join an online game, the server list has also been improved. They've added in 4 new buttons allowing you to open the server’s website, view its mod list, see which players are online, and manage your favourites. You can also now filter server searches by game, mod and player.

Other additions / changes include:

  • Mods can override the default fonts
  • Clients’ version_string is now available in core.get_player_information(), with core.protocol_versions added to verify available client features (#15708).
  • glTF STEP interpolation is now supported (#15525).
  • The chat console has a scrollbar now (#15104).
  • Some unwanted disconnects have been eliminated (#15680).
  • Various rendering issues (shadow flicker, overlay Z-fighting, MSAA/bloom artifacts, orbit tilt distortions, and more) have been fixed.

Work is already in progress on the next version to bring further enhancements.

Luanti is awesome name :D Suomi finland perkele.
That's not a Finnish word.
But it very much does sound like one, and/or might be a wordplay of luonti and something else? Lua? So torille anyway. 🇫🇮🏙️🏃🏻
