PS2 Emulator emulator PCSX2 should get Wayland support "in the coming months"

PCSX2 is a free and open source Sony PS2 Emulator, and it seems they're working towards ensuring it has full support for Wayland on Linux.

Back with the 2.0 release in July 2024, the developers switched over from wxWidgets to a much more modern Qt for the interface. And now, they're looking to upgrade again to Qt 6.9 which should arrive in March, and bring with it support for the modern Wayland protocol on Linux.

As they announced on Bluesky and Mastodon:

A few of the project members are looking at Qt 6.9 as a way to finally get #Wayland working with PCSX2 on #Linux. We're going to keep testing, but we haven't found any problems so far. Qt 6.9's final release is on 18 March. We hope to see Wayland support in the coming months.

While technically it has Wayland support, in a way, it was previously disabled by default due to lots of issues.

Going by their current compatibility page there's now 97.92% of the PS2 library at least playable, with only 0.22% noting they can only get just into the menus so it's looking great.
