Imponix Game Studio have announced GSC - Game Store Chronicle, a management simulator where you run your very own game store.

They say it's "not just another simulator" like we've seen quite a lot of pop up recently including Supermarket Simulator, TCG Card Shop Simulator, Grocery Store Simulator, Clothing Store Simulator and various others, as it "features a timeline tied to gaming industry history, letting you follow the greatest consoles, games, and moments through the generations".

The first trailer is below:

Make every decision count—your store layout and product selection are key to customer satisfaction.

Every decision you make shapes your business—from product selection to pricing strategies. Will you build a thriving store that becomes a gaming hub, or will you fall behind as trends shift and evolve? The choice is yours in this vibrant simulation.

The developer confirmed Linux / Steam Deck support on Bluesky:

Of course it will have! Steamdeck and Linux, in fact, this one I'll do better testing on desktop Linux. VoS I did test directly on Steamdeck, but not on desktop linux, just through players feedbacks.

It's due out sometime in Q3 2025.

The concept is great... but I have serious doubts that it's actually fun to play. It looks like ... work!

Heque yea. - I was interested in perhaps playing that Supermarket Simulator one, at least once they've fleshed it out a lot more (it LOOKS like one of those shovelware games, but they seem to be putting more effort into it), because I like management-games and such, but if they're going to do a game store one, I'm in. XD
The idea of having like a dynamic market behind it that you have to respond to is definitely what makes it more interesting, although I believe the supermarket one does have something similar, even if just fluctuating market-prices.

For what it's worth, TCG Shop Sim is actually kind of fantastic. You get the fun of card pack opening and flashy cards, the management aspect of running your store and designing it nicely, it's a nice enough mental math workout, and the dev has been super active in updating it and adding in neat collabs and such. It's not exactly a looker, but it runs nice which is more than some games can say these days.

Having actually run a game store for 15 years, I think that I can pass on this virtual simulation. Trust me -- when it's your livelihood on the line -- it's not as stress-free as these simulators make it out to be ...

... but then, Amiga is going out of fashion and you need to give up on it.

Hey! I've passed here and read all the comments so far. As developer of the game, I can add more info to it for sure, and try to clarify some of the questions in the comments.

We really like to play these management games, but we always thought that they were missing something that made them more than just buy products, put them on shelves and see the money coming. Most of these games are basically that, including some small tweaks, like variable market prices, shop lifting...that was not enough in our opinion. Without mentioning the "asset flip" throughout the genre. We are making it all pretty much, from UI to 3D models.

As game lovers, we decided to add a major mechanic that will rule our game...the real history of the gaming industry.
How? The game will start on the second generation of video games, when Atari 2600 was released, then it will follow a timeline, what we mean by timeline is that as the days pass by new games will be released and be available to be added to your store's shelves. The nicest thing is that it will happen in the same way it was back in the days, for example,
Spoiler, click me
in 1980 Atari (Ultravision in GSC) release Pac-Man (Maze Muncher in GSC) and Donkey Kong (Ape Escape on GSC) in this order, that will happen on GSC as well.
Together with the timeline, the way you organize your store will affect your sales, you need to prepare to acclaimed releases that will come, to not be caught short handed having customers leaving without the game they wanted...and so on.

Enough spoilers...lol.
We hope you gonna love this game and enjoy all the touches and details we are adding in it.
