Valve just released a tiny SteamOS 3.6.22 "Volcanic Activity" Beta for Steam Deck, which includes a fix for a rather annoying issue. You need to be in either the Beta or Preview update channels to receive this update before it's rolled out for everyone.

The only listed change is "Fixed a recent regression where pre-compiled shaders wouldn't be downloaded", an issue I saw reported by quite a few people across various social media channels. Nice to see it sorted.

This follows on from the SteamOS 3.6.21 stable update released earlier in February, which fixed some security issues and Indiana Jones eye rendering. If you missed it Valve also updated Proton Hotfix to fix Marvel Rivals and Indiana Jones on Steam Deck / Linux.

I must admit, every time I see a SteamOS update I get a little excited that it might finally be the public SteamOS 3 Beta that Valve have been planning. Hopefully that will come soonish.

Maybe they just mean "Volcanoids" will play better now.
