Valve have released the Steam Hardware & Software Survey for January 2025, showing both Linux and macOS having a dip with a rise of Windows 10.

The overall numbers:

  • Windows 96.55% +0.45%
  • Linux 2.06% 2.06 -0.23%
  • macOS 1.40% -0.21%

Switching over to the Linux side, these are the most popular distributions, which also includes the Flatpak and Snap versions of Steam:

  • SteamOS Holo 64 bit 34.93% -1.54%
  • Arch Linux 64 bit 9.41% -0.29%
  • Freedesktop SDK 24.08 (Flatpak runtime) 64 bit 6.01% +0.28%
  • Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS 64 bit 4.84% +0.05%
  • Linux Mint 22 64 bit 4.55% -0.07%
  • Ubuntu Core 22 64 bit 4.13% +0.34%
  • "Manjaro Linux" 64 bit 2.73% -0.23%
  • Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) 64 bit 2.47% +2.47%
  • Other 30.93% +3.46%

So Ubuntu actually has 8.61% and 13,16% if Mint is counted (Mint is in practice Ubuntu and even using their repositories).

Why these Ubuntu's (core / snap and regular) are separated there makes no much sense.
