Stellar Blade to be optimized for the Steam Deck and other "UMPC environments"

Shift Up have today released another earnings report for the end of 2024, and in it they talk about some expectations for the upcoming PC release of the popular Stellar Blade. A PC release was confirmed in November last year.

On page 6 of their business performance report PDF, there's a Q&A with this note:

Q.2: What are the expected results of PC version, and why?

A.2 : In the AAA game market, PC devices have a higher market share than consoles, so we expect the performance of the PC version to exceed that of the console version. We are particularly observing trends such as the significant expansion of the single-player action game market in the Asian gaming industry.

We have identified and analyzed both successful and underperforming cases of console exclusives released on PC, and we are preparing to release the game in a way that ensures continued success in the PC market. This will include optimization, enhancing user convenience, adding supplementary content, and tailored marketing strategies
unique to Shift Up. In particular, we plan to optimize the game to ensure smooth gameplay even in UMPC (Steam Deck) environments.

UMPC means usually "Ultra-mobile PC".

Hopefully then, we should see Stellar Blade performing well on the Steam Deck, and across the PC platform as a whole, whenever it releases. We've seen quite a lot of poorly performing game releases over the last year, so I do hope Stellar Blade doesn't disappoint.

Stellar Blade is lovely. I know it's frowned upon in some parts of the West to appreciate pretty girls these days, but luckily the rest of the world doesn't care.

Good to hear. I will mainly play the game on the PC on my TV, but probably will try and see how it performs on the Deck.

Been waiting ages for this game. Can't wait for it to come to the PC!

I was curious about this game, so I'm glad it's coming to PC. I never got a PS5 since I ended up switching full-time to PC.

I'm sure there will be no mods for this!

I will prepare a one-handed Steam Deck controller configuration for this title as my gift to the community.

Lately, each time I read "X game will be optimized for Steam Deck", it ends up in a half assed FSR support and a 30 FPS experience. Hope it's different this time.

UMPC is the actual category name for Handheld PC? Huh. And ultra-mobile... I initially thought it'd mean "ultra-mini PC" but I guess that would make it ambiguous with Single Board Computers.
