TRX, the Tomb Raider I & II: Community Edition open source re-implementation project, has continued advancing and a fresh release of both are out now. With the Tomb Raider II side adding Linux support.

While the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered collection does exist, this project works with the originals and enhances them. You do need to own the games to run through TRX. You can grab them from GOG or Steam.

The latest release of TR2X 0.9 is out now, which amongst other things includes "Linux builds and toolchain" support, so you can run it natively on Linux and benefit from all the improvements. Going by the status page they say "TR2X is finished with the decompilation and is now able to run without the original game .exe. The focus is now to clean up the code base and enrich the game with new enhancements and features". The update also includes a pause dialog, a photo mode feature, support for animated sprites and more.

TR1X 4.8 for Tomb Raider I was also release adding a few new features and lots of fixes. This already had Linux support.

Nice to see more of this free replacements arrive, along with new versions of classic FOSS games like Freecol or Freeorion

Nice. I've slowly been going through TR1, so I can continue when I'm done.

I played a bunch of TR1 when it released, but the others I did not have time for.

I'm a bit surprised so I ask the question: is anyone know if these are available on the AUR? It doesn't seems to be the case.
