The online shooter Mini Royale is set for an Early Access release on March 27th, bringing with it a toy soldier battleground with multiple game modes.

It will have a classic Battle Royale mode with a shrinking zone, Colour Conquest where four teams battle it out and when you die you join the enemy team and classic deathmatch. Plus it has both first and third-person modes for each game mode.

I tried out the demo back in October 2024, where it was already pretty fun and they've continued to update it with lots of improvements since then. The Colour Conquest mode was a particular favourite of mine.

Mini Royale has a lot to like about it but it's incredibly difficult for a new online shooter to break through. People who play online shooters tend to stick to the same few, with a lot of newer online shooters failing pretty quickly. Hopefully this will fare just a little bit better since it's trying to do something a bit different to a lot of others. It will also be free to play with optional cosmetics via a season pass, so at least people can easily jump in and try it.

There is a demo listed but the playtest servers aren't live right now. Going by the in-game countdown it will get another playtest in around 8 days.

It has Native Linux support with Easy Anti-Cheat enabled.

Looks interesting. I'll get in early since as you say, the likelihood of any online game sticking around is slim. And since The Finals has been a complete mess on Linux for the last 2 weeks, I'm definitely looking for the next game in this area.
