With the news recently about Monolith Productions closing, perhaps you might be wanting to jump back into the classic shooter FEAR (stylised as F.E.A.R.). Here's a mod to make the experience better. At least perhaps until we know any improvements GOG will make with their plan to put FEAR into their Preservation Program.
The EchoPatch was released recently bringing with it a bunch of enhancements like HUD Scaling, a Framerate Limiter, an FPS Drop Fix, the option to Disable Letterboxing, Auto Resolution detection, an option to Skip Splash-screens, an Infinite Flashlight and more.
I've tested it and thanks to the improvements for modding in a recent Proton Experimental update, the mod will run out of the box if you set it to use that on Steam. Or, if you're running it outside of Steam (like GOG with the Heroic Games Launcher), the latest GE-Proton will also work. I couldn't get it to work with Proton 9 even with setting WINEDLLOVERRIDES.
Really seems like a great way to replay this classic that I have fond memories of.
Some say the culprit was the weak CPUs (AMD "jaguar" cores) of the XBOne and PS4. I think there is more to blame than that.
