Game of the Year contender for sure!
I bought it on steam and its been amazing. Runs great without any frametime stutters or anything. No stability issues either.
90 hours played so far. Its a blast

Really looking forward to KC:D II. Backed the first one on Kickstarter, and it did not disappoint (aside from not delivering on the native Linux version).

From what I hear the 2nd installment is in a much better shape on release than the first (not that I ran into many problems back then), but is more of the same otherwise. Much more, actually :-). Yay!

How do you guys feel about buying on GoG instead of Steam?

I recently thought I'd start buying there in order to download and archive the offline installers and using Heroic to download the games for actually playing them.

However, Valve is much more friendly to Linux (and probably the biggest reason that Linux gaming is as good as it is now), cloud saves works better than Heroic and, well, the Steam interface is just better in so many ways. In fact, I don't think we're going to see an official GoG client on Linux.

So, now I'm second-guessing my decision and might just go back to primarily buying everything on Steam.

I always buy on GOG to encourage DRM-free gaming.

Let's see. In addition to Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris, there is also the Minigalaxy GOG client. Read here:

https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2025/02/simple-gog-client-for-linux-minigalaxy-v1-3-2-released-with-improved-game-installs/

The community has provided what GOG has not. Why does the client have to be official? Frankly, I think the community solutions do a better job than the official ones.

Personally, I favour GOG because they give me the ability to download offline installers. I like being able to keep a personal archive of my game installers. I also like not having to depend on the Steam client (or GOG Galaxy, for that matter) in order to install my games.

It's not one or the other, you know. I do still buy games on Steam. Sometimes, Steam will have a native Linux version that isn't available on GOG. I just tend to favour GOG if the game is available on both platforms. Like @Shmerl, I also want to show my support for DRM-free gaming.
