Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has lost its Steam Deck Verified rating

Valve's Steam Deck rating system is generally quite correct, but there are clearly some times when it isn't. Thankfully, Valve do go back over various games to re-test them and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been hit with a downgraded rating.

Originally, Valve rated it as Steam Deck Verified on February 20th, nearly a month after it arrived on Steam. This surprised a lot of people, considering it had a lot of well-reported performance problems on Steam Deck requiring some manual effort to get it to a more acceptable (but still rough) level.

Seems Valve actually agree now a bit, as they've dropped it down to Steam Deck Playable, noting that it needs manual changes to the graphics settings to "perform well on Steam Deck". That's pretty debatable though, with the game still seeing various performance drops during gameplay and especially some cut-scenes are problematic.

Hopefully it's the start of a comprehensive re-evaluation of the ratings. "30 fps at native resolution and default settings" is their stated benchmark for "performs well on Deck," and that's fair enough - as long as the rating actually reflects that. Obviously there have been cases where games don't manage that, and it hasn't been reflected in Valve's rating; that needs to be fixed.

What about Balatro? Runs can EASILY dip below 30, and that's before we take Cryptid into account

<cynicism>So that means Valve allows a two month window to get elevated sales on big releases before applying a more honest evaluation?</cynicism>
