Monsterpatch is Pokemon meets Stardew Valley from the dev of Littlewood and Kindergarten

Monsterpatch is the latest game from Sean Young developer of Littlewood and Kindergarten, blending together Pokemon and Stardew Valley with a little of their own Littlewood thrown in. It will have Native Linux support like their previous games.

Much like Pokemon games, it will have two different editions, although both come with the game and you can swap between them. Each version offers up two unique stories with different antagonists, and you'll be able to trade your MoNs between the save files on each — sounds like a pretty clever hook.

More about it:

  • Explore a floating continent teeming with magical creatures known as MoNs. These creatures love battling alongside the wizards that catch and care for them.
  • Catch magical MoNs, learn powerful spells, and battle other wizards across the continent.
  • An Epic Adventure unfolds as you explore each route and city. Return to your town at any time to plant some crops, harvest some fruit, or relax with the MoNs you've caught! Maybe some NPCs will even move into your town!

The game is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and it's been a huge success. With 29 days still left to go it's currently on over $68,000 against the original $15,000 goal. So it's currently going through special stretch-goals for extra content like interior decorating, an increased number of MoNs creatures, special shiny MoNs and more.

Definitely excited about this one!

I liked Littlewood a lot, but it did have the problem of the dev immediately walking away after 1.0 came out, doing little bugfixing and stuff after that. Not sure if they did the same with Kindergarten, I haven't played it.

Did Littlewood need something specific after release? Not all games need to be updated forever, some are just - done.

Oh wow, I think I can already hear the Nintendo lawyers rubbing their hands together.

Impressive crowdfunding results. May their game do as well as Palworld but escape Nintendo's litigious attentions.
