While EA have officially open sourced a bunch of classic Command & Conquer titles like Red Alert and Generals, the cross-platform OpenRA project continues advancing with a new release out now.
OpenRA is a free and open source RTS game engine that supports playing Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Dune 2000 with online play and lots of enhancements. You can also make entirely new RTS games with it.
OpenRA release 202500303 includes a much revamped Map Editor that includes new features like draggable selections, draggable actors, measurement tools, a marker layer, a play button, a delete area button and more. Making it easier than ever to craft some epic maps to battle on. OpenRA also now supports post-processing effects out of the box!

Another major improvement is significantly improved support for HD art assets from the C&C Remastered Collection for Tiberian Dawn. With faster starting times and improved performance but it's still a separate download for now.
Some of the other notable changes include:
- Game assets can now be installed from the Steam release of The Ultimate Collection.
- Switched to high-quality Dune 2000 assets and included lots of extra visual polish.
- Added two Red Alert missions and improved the quality of many others.
- Red Alert and Dune 2000 balance changes.
- Skirmish options no longer reset between matches.
- Behind the scenes we made significant progress towards supporting additional languages in future releases.
- Lots of bug fixes.
