The Last of Us Part II Remastered devs aiming for "best possible experience on handheld gaming devices"

Sony have revealed the system requirements and more info for the PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which is due to arrive on April 3rd. Looks like it might be good news for Steam Deck owners too.

The first game on PC released in quite a poor state so hopefully this time around they have learned from some mistakes. Sounds like they may have as they've pulled in Nixxes Software in addition to Iron Galaxy as well. On top of that, as Sony announced previously, there's no PlayStation Network requirement here now but you will get bonus features if you sign-in.

For Steam Deck players, they didn't mention the handheld specifically but they did note how it offers a "wide range of graphics settings and presets, to ensure the best possible experience on hardware ranging from high-end PCs to handheld gaming devices". The minimum system requirements seem quite reasonable too.

One potential issue here though is that they say it supports the PlayStation Overlay, which does not work on Linux platforms with Proton. It's part of why Ghost of Tsushima is rated Unsupported. However, since the sign-in is optional, hopefully that won't cause any problems.

The system requirements:

The PC release arrives with support for:

  • Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation support.
  • AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation.
  • VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option.
  • DirectStorage support, and more.

Meh.

All I want is The Last of Us: Factions MP on my Steam Deck... I'm already up to 10,000+ hours on my 'PlayStation' consoles; but I'd be stoked if I could play this on my Steam Deck.

Looking forward to this and hopefully Nixxes do a better job than the last PC port? I already have 32GB of Rammage, RYZEN 7 5700x and NVIDIA 4060 TI with 16GB of Rammage. Everything I chuck at Cachy OS Xfce Edition Gaming wise it says yes I can run that every time.
