The Last of Us Part II Remastered is Steam Deck Verified

What could be the biggest surprise of the year — The Last of Us Part II Remastered releases on Steam on April 3rd, and Valve just gave it the green Steam Deck Verified checkmark.

I was hoping it would at least be playable after all the issues with the PC port of the first game, which eventually did become a lot more playable on Steam Deck. Valve actually gave the first game a Steam Deck Verified rating around 3 months after the Steam release.

However, it is worth noting how we've seen various issues with Valve's rating system, so this is very much a moment to take with a pinch of salt. Only recently Valve downgraded Spider-Man 2 from Verified to Playable for example, and we had both Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced and Rainbow Six Siege suddenly go Steam Deck Playable and then back to Unsupported and the list goes on.

Valve tested it with the latest Proton 9.0-4 (SteamDB) so you're good to go with it on Desktop Linux too when it releases. At least this is a good sign though, seeing Valve getting in more pre-release testing for major game releases, let's hope it deserves the rating. We did see Assassin's Creed Shadows working well at release too so it's certainly possible.

But why you wanna play a PS5-level game on small, ps4-like gaming device?

This is kind of a big reason I stopped using my Steam Deck for the most part, and what became of my Switch before it.

Handheld gaming is a really cool novelty, but then the novelty wears off. Gaming on something that isn't my PC just... Isn't fun.

Playing with the Steam Deck docked is a nice way to share games on a bigger screen, but gaming on a couch simply isn't fun for me.

My SD is also gathering dust since I got a new computer, but I never used it for AAA games anyway, rather I used it to play indie platformers and emulated Amiga games, both of which it handled perfectly. Never tried it docked, though. Would probably be good enough for most 3d games.

I’m sorry but if I can remind you that LTU 2 was first released in PS4 and was impressive about his graphics despite been in a very old console for it time.

So I think it could be great to have this on Steam Deck if we are able to get at least what the PS4 version was able to delivered. Which is still impressive if you watched it. Even for today.
