Awesome auto-battler Mechabellum gets a free weekend, discount and update

My absolute favourite auto-battler Mechabellum will have a Free Weekend starting later today, it's one you definitely have to try as the battles just look awesome.

It works perfectly on Desktop Linux with the latest Proton 9.0-4, and has been running great since release. To go with the Free Weekend it's also on a 20% discount, and they just added in a huge new unit to the game. The new unit is the Abyss, a huge aerial unit that fires off a massive sweeping laser (and might be my new favourite unit).

This is also the start of Season 3, which runs through until July 3rd. Another major update is planned for May 22nd, which adds in another new unit — the single-target specialist unit Void Eye and an all-new Undo feature available across all game modes. Looking forward to that!

While I grew somewhat quickly bored of other auto-battling games, or they just died out (R.I.P Dota Underlords), Mechabellum feels like it's carved out something special here. The battles are just magic to watch unfold, with all the destruction. A great game for people who love strategy games but don't have hours and hours to put into them.

The developer also just recently teamed up with a new publisher, Dreamhaven, to help the developer continue to expand the game further.

Don't sleep on this one.

Sounds cool, when the free trial opens up I'll give it a go for sure.

Hm, I get "Invalid platform" when trying to install the game on desktop.
