Steam will soon list what accessibility features games support on store pages

Finally. Something many have been asking for Valve to do for a long time now, and something I've pointed out multiple times across various articles - Steam pages will soon list what accessibility features games support on store pages.

Valve announced the upcoming change in a Steamworks Developer post, noting that they'll be giving developers time to fill out some extra questions on what their games support.

This will include features like:

  • Gameplay options, like adjustable difficulty.
  • Audio accessibility features, including custom volume controls and narrated game menus.
  • Visual accessibility features, including adjustable text size and color alternatives.
  • Input options, which include chat speech-to-text and text-to-speech.

They don't say when store pages on the web and inside the Steam Client will update to show it other than sometime later this year.

There will be new store search options so you can look for games that have specific features like text sizing options, saving anywhere and more.

And how these features will look on store pages when it all goes live:

I'm really happy to see this. Especially playing across different systems, having games with tiny text is just annoying me more and more as time goes on. Even more so on Steam Deck with the smaller screen. Being able to search directly for games that let me scale it up will be wonderful. Hopefully plenty of developers will fill it out, but it's not actually required of developers to do so.

The community site SteamDB has already added support for the new accessibility tags too in their search. Nice.

It will probably go live on June 28th, for no particular reason.

Seems like they missed a very important one: key rebinding. Controller rebinding is also a thing, but at least Steam Input has that functionality covered.
