How to (Darwinia 64bit Ubuntu)
Rustybolts Feb 4, 2011
So i decided to re-install Darwinia today what a nightmare, a lot of the guides although worked the first time I installed this game are now outdated so I have hacked a few of the guides and created my own. Heres how I installed Darwinia.

Locate and install getlibs not available in software centre, I installed it from here
http://www.hotshare.net/en/file/61002-6358541df0.html
Then follow these commands

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

wget http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/glib1.2/libglib1.2-dbg_1.2.10-19build1_i386.deb
wget http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gtk+1.2/libgtk1.2_1.2.10-18.1build2_i386.deb
wget http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gcc-3.3/libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_i386.deb

getlibs -i libgtk1.2_1.2.10-18.1build2_i386.deb
getlibs -i libglib1.2-dbg_1.2.10-19build1_i386.deb
getlibs -i libstdc++5_3.3.6-17ubuntu1_i386.deb

then download libgmodule-1.2.so.0 i got from here
http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/glib1.2/libglib1.2ldbl_1.2.10-19build1_i386.deb

cd to download location (tip if you type "cd " in terminal then drag and drop the actual folder inside of the terminal the location of the folder will be typed for you, then press enter)
then
getlibs -i libglib1.2ldbl_1.2.10-19build1_i386.deb

Darwinia install should now work once installed do this

sudo cp -r /usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1 /home/<yourusername>/darwinia/lib

Enjoy! :)

So the problem is you need old compatibility libraries installed to play the game?

In that case, maybe you should suggest Darwinia to the guys over at LIFLG, this seems right up their alley.

The problems are two fold one being that my Os is 64bit but the game is 32bit so you have to install 32bit libraries as the 64 bit libraries are not compatible also the age of the libraries themselves
