Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is released on GOG at last!
Shmerl Apr 25, 2016
It took years, but it's here. All fans of Vampire the Masquerade, rejoice!
https://www.gog.com/game/vampire_the_masquerade_bloodlines

The game includes latest unofficial Wesp's patch (9.5) for technical fixes, but not for additional content (aka patch plus). You can install it yourself to enable patch plus from here: http://www.patches-scrolls.de/patch/4647/7/

To run the game with the unofficial patch enabled, add this parameter:

-game Unofficial_Patch

For improved distant visuals, you can also enable forced anisotropic filtering. With closed Nvidia driver you can do it by adding this export before launching the game (in PlayOnLinux you can do it in the misc tab):

export __GL_LOG_MAX_ANISO=4

Scrap that part about anisotropic filtering. I just did some extensive testing, and it doesn't work like it used to be. I guess something changed in the Nvidia driver.

Doesn't an application profile in nvidia-settings work?
Shmerl Apr 26, 2016
Those profiles never worked properly in my experience, may be because the process wasn't detected correctly? It's a whole chain from POL to Wine to the binary for me.

See https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/2nnh0b/how_to_create_an_application_profile_for_nvidia/

But even full override in nvidia-settings doesn't affect Bloodlines anymore. I remember in the past it did work for the CD version with Wesp5's patches.

Good review. But needs some updating (with GOG release info). GOG integrated Wesp5's community patches into their release, unlike Steam ;)

This is an excellent game (the ending part much less excellent than the rest), which I'd played in Wine many years ago. GOG is awesome for bringing these kinds of things back.
