we all know and appreciate Paradox Interactive, the small scandinavian publisher that has been hugely supporting our community these last few years.
Paradox released all of their recent games for GNU/Linux, most of them on day one. We are talking about masterpieces such as Stellaris, Hearts of Iron 4, Europa Universalis 4, Crusader Kings 2, Cities Skyline, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, etc...
Well, it seems that trend may come to an end now since their newest game "Steel Division: Normandy 44" is not planned for release on GNU/Linux.

I find this particularly worrying since both Steel Division's publisher (Paradox) and developer (Eugene Systems, you may know them for the 'Wargame' series) have a good story of GNU/Linux support.
Can this start a dark reversal of a good trend?
Originally it stated it was, but it's not.
It's not particularly worrying, Paradox don't control who they publish. All actual Paradox games are on/coming to Linux though.
Sometimes publishers only team up to help with marketing, which is likely in this case. Best thing to do, is to show support for a Linux version to the developer if you want it.

It's important to distinguish between Paradox Interactive the publishing company (PDX), and their internal development studio, Paradox Studios (PDS), even if we typically refer to either/both as simply "Paradox" for brevity. All the games from Paradox Studios since Crusader Kings II have had equal support for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and there's zero indication that's going to change anytime soon. Cities: Skylines, Pillars of Eternity, and Tyranny were separate development studios whose decisions to release on Linux were presumably their own, since this game shows Paradox Interactive obviously doesn't mandate equal coverage for games they publish.
Is it sad that Steel Division: Normandy 44 isn't releasing on Linux? Sure, but don't go breaking out the pitchforks and torches just yet.
