Quoting: ShmerlForest at night:

Looks like you've been having some fun now that it works almost perfectly :-)

Have you been playing it regularly and if so, how well does it work? (performance aside). I've just installed a fresh copy of Debian 9 on my laptop and I must say it's quite smooth so far, might start dipping my feet in custom Wine compiling soon.

I'm gradually playing it (still around White Orchard). It plays really well, and besides a few missing surfaces in some places, that opaque surface bug and puppeteer lines on a few NPCs, I didn't encounter any issues. And it's especially cool that it works with Mesa.

Not sure about what you'll get with laptop performance though. It's quite CPU / GPU intensive as was pointed out before.

I must say I'm not surprised that Shmerl is having great time - Witcher 3 is great game.
Having in mind that Witcher 3 is playable on Wine it would be great to somehow track people who buy this game for Linux - maybe a forum post on GOG? What I want to achieve here is a message:
Hey CDPR, you did nothing to us, we buy your game on sale, we play it on Wine. The day you port your library to Linux we start to pay full price for your games once again. Linux user.
After the message every buyer leaves +1.
When Witcher 3 starts to be golden, let's support Wine team to make GTA V golden.

P.S. Don't forget to support Wine team from time to time.

So far I like it, but it's not without issues (from game design perspective). For instance they messed up alchemy, I suspect for the sake of simplification and mass market appeal of console gamers. TW1 probably had the best alchemy of all three games, TW2 was OK, but TW3 really made it weird.

I don't think they care much, but a better indicator of demand is the existing Linux wishlist for TW3. It's already 10,377 votes. If you want to show that for their future games, use one for Cyberpunk 2077.

Of course it's not without issues. And I couldn't agree more regarding alchemy. In general I consider first Witcher to be the best from RPG point of view from the whole series if we take a look at the time 1/2/3 were released. However it aged not so well, while Witcher 3 offers you so much fun. And you're right - a lot of the game mechanics is simplified in order to easily ship the game for consoles with the same UI. But honestly I like it - for few years I'm already a casual, couch gamer with gamepad in my hands. Right now I play Pillars of Eternity with Steam Controller in my hand :)

True, they stopped to care about Linux user at all some time ago, GOG promised GOG Galaxy long time ago and where is it?
Anyway thanks for the link, I will add my +1 there.

I just got to Velen area in TW3, and the ground there looks like this:

Is it supposed to be so dark, or it's a bug? It sometimes looks almost black.

I've never seen anything like it in screenshots or videos, so I highly doubt it. It looks the same as earlier shots in this thread. So the question is, is the texture black or is there simply no light?

It just looks very dark, and I assume it's a lighting issue. May be @wojtek88 can confirm if it also happens with Nvidia blob.

Can't test it, but it does look like a lighting issue to me as well and I'm wild guessing it's the same issue as the others.
