Mesa git does noe support opengl 3.3 compat which is the version Dying Light does ask for when started without additional parameters. Anyone interested in giving it a try?

Another thing that might be interesting is fedora29's optimization for x86_64 for their 32 bit libraries (multilib). That will enable optizatin like sse2 among others. I wonder how that will change the situation for DL

Bought this game expecting it would work (even with that "hacky" solution)... but well, there goes a refund. Maybe with 18.2 during a future sale.

I tryed play the game on Ubuntu 18.04 (glibc 2.27) and it didn't run, but I only tested it on Ubuntu 16.04 (glib 2.23) and it run (I don't use 16.04 to play now). The problem is the glibc version 2.27.

For those who were playing the game via snap, recent updates broke that method again, here's how I fixed it:

I uninstalled solus-runtime-gaming and linux-steam-integration, then downloaded the older versions from here:

https://packages.solus-project.com/lsi/8/
and installed them, and the game ran again

sudo snap remove solus-runtime-gaming linux-steam-integration

hello, I use ubuntu 18.04, I tried everything and not start dying light, it does not pass the load screen and it closes, I used both stable padoka and oibaf ppa and nothing including mesa 18.2.0 that supposedly corrects the start error, currently use oibaf ppa, my hardware is rx 580 4gb + ryzen 1600 + kernel 4.18.8 from https://github.com/M-Bab/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries

Dear Daniel Monaga,

Dying Light uses lspci to detect your video card (at least when running on mesa). Since on most distributions this binary is located in /usr/sbin/, the game cannot find it, reports no video memory and crashes.
Try creating a symlink "ln -s /usr/sbin/lspci /usr/bin/lspci" and start the game, please.

I just got this link last night.

A youtube video by GloriousEggroll who gets it working on Arch.

Haven't tried it yet, but it seems to work (for now).

Addition : Tested it, wand it works! This also fixes the dead island games for me.

Summary : compile mesa with GLVND DISABLED and use the resulting libs via LD_LIBRARY_PATH as not to mess with with your installed mesa.

glvnd is the issue it seems.

Someone should mention the GLVND lead to Techland, just in case. Not likely they'll fix their engine and release an update but you never know.
