HumbleBundle gives away the windows game JALOPY

but just for download (steam key costs extra)

if i unpack the game and add the Jalopy.exe file (there is no setup) into steam and force proton, i can play it

does valve see which games i play like this?
do the developers see, that i play their game?

or is it like a sandbox?
