Okay so after getting the girlfriend into battlestar galactica (the remake) this week i had space shooter thirst to quench and remembered what an AMAZING game Freespace 2 was, so i decided to pop along to www.gog.com and pick up a copy for about $6.
Good job nowadays the engine is open source (but not the main art and such - why you still have to buy it) and much improved :D, so it can run on Linux natively and look far better than it originally did.
Anyone else played it? If you haven't i suggest giving it a real good go, best space shooter ever made IMO.

How did GoG package the game for you? It was a native Windows game, so they probably just gave you the Windows executable, but how easy was it to extract the necessary data from it?
Its actually really simple.
Install via wine (gog installer works perfectly), copy out the installed folder to wherever you want it - add a linux launcher and fso to the folder and bam its done.
There you have the best space shooter available fully native, wine really does have its uses.
Such a good game though :D
