A few folk on Discord have noted the same. But works fine for me.

If it helps, I'm still using Proton 6.20-GE-1, with the following launch command:

mangohud PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=40 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%

I notice a strange thing. Right after a fresh system boot - it starts fine. Trying to run the game the second time causes a crash.

That makes no sense. Is there still a wine process lagging behind after exiting the game, maybe??

It's indeed weird. I tried to clean all such processes, no luck. I'll dig a bit more when I'll have time. May be the game leaves some weird state.

1.5 GoG version works without issues for me. Well except poor perf on pascal. Can get stable 60 with medium/high mix and 1440p FSR on Quality though. Played 2 hours yesterday, zero crashes so far. wine-staging 7.1 lastest VKD3D from master.

Interesting. I'm on Wine staging 7.2. I've read that crash happens on Windows too and is related to audio.

Hmm, no audio issues noticed. I have tkg wine build with fshack and fsync stuff if that makes any difference. windows version set to 10 in winecfg (that was default), using pipewire if that makes any difference. Sound worked well also, didnt notice anything missing or broken in terms of audio.

I'm using stock Wine-staging + latest vkd3d-proton and Pipewire too. Also Windows 10 in the prefix.

The only issue i noticed is that button prompts in game were all controller ones, even when my steam controller was off. But the keyboard buttons still worked, just visual prompts showed as controller. But that could be some weird detection method, maybe my steam controller dongle makes it think controller is still attached.
I could share my wine build if you want but its compiled for Arch, so i dunno if it will work with other distros.

It's fine, I think the issue is in the game still, it's just a race condition so doesn't happen in every case.

Developers already acknowledged it's a game bug.

I tried that, it didn't help in my case.

By the way, looks like Mesa developers are working on adding missing features to radv for ray tracing, so it would be interesting to test it with CP2077 once they are ready:

I want to give it a shot on PC again, but I'm going to wait until I have a better GPU. I can't really justify playing it on my RX 580 when I also have a PS5 copy. I already beat the game, but I want to do another play-through as a different style of character. Hopefully, I can get a hold of a GPU in a month or two.

OK, if anyone wants to make Cyber Engine Tweaks work with 1.5, you need to install the native d3dcompiler_47 override, becasue Wine still didn't implement direct HLSL compilation.

See:

Supposedly GPU prices are gradually falling now.

So far, I got to try it after patch 1.5, it didn't lunch on steam base proton. It did lunch with Proton 7.1 GE-2, with out a problem and I am using steam in a flatpak + Manjaro Gnome.

I came to ask this. I'm not using flatpak, but hopefully the 7.1 GE-2 version works for me too. I'll report later today.

Some progress about race condition in related bug report.

For those with the game on HDD, purging file system cache works around the bug. That also explains why the game starts fine after reboot.

There is a game hotfix: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1091500/view/3127191325133415636
Once I had this installed, the startup crash no longer occured for me.
