Proper Preparation:

The basic thing which can ruin the whole appearance of the fabric and which can make the fabric tear apart in a few years is no proper preparation. It’s necessary to prepare the fabric before you start sewing anything out of it. Due to the no preparation, the color will get fade, sewing will be disturb and due to the shrinking the whole fitting will be ruined.

If you want to give long life to the clothes then the first thing you need to focus on is preparation. Always follow the instructions mentioned at the back of the dresses and prepare the fabric. Once your fabric is dry proceed with the sewing. It would be good if you pre-wash the fabric two times to make sure about the quality and to get rid of all the flaws.

Cleaning:

The worse thing you can do to your precious clothes is to store them without cleaning. This blunder is enough to eat your fabric as well as it can also attract insects. If there is a small stain at the back of the dress or any small spot then it can weaken the fiber of the dress and you will be able to see the tearing from the part in the dress.

Before you are planning to store the dress in some box, make sure the dress is cleaned. Give the dress to the dry cleaner to get rid of all the dirty spots and later you can pack it in some dress box to use it later. You can also wash the dress by hand to clean it by yourself.

Moth Attacks:

This is a common problem and I already have gone through this. No matter if you are storing unstitch fabric in the sewing room for later use or you are storing the dress, the dark corners of the wardrobe are the homes of moths and small insects which can eat the dress. They are not easy to spot until you use something to bring them out of the corners.

If you will discover them, then be an efficient and aggressive cleaner to kill them. Always keep your sewing machine and fabrics at someplace that should be saved from insects. Before storing the fabric, keep spraying the insect killer in all the corners of the wardrobe and then with the help of some cloth, clean the corners. Once you are satisfied with the whole arrangement, now you can keep the dresses.

The place where you are about to store the precious and expensive dress must be clean and dry. If there is going to be moist then after a few weeks you can see the large yellow spots on the dress and you can’t fix it. Always check inside the wardrobe the signs of humidity and if there is any then use some other place to store the clothes and fix the place.

I recommend storing the fabrics in the flat cupboard because hanging for a long time can also mess with the fibers of the fabric. You can also muslin lining as well to protect the fabric from any kind of spots or humidity. Also, don’t let your clothes in contact with the metal, clothes are easy to catch rust and it can’t be removed from the dresses.

Quality:

Another thing so many people out there need to understand that quality plays an important role in increasing the life span of the fabric. If your clothes are not of good quality then no matter where you are storing them, in a few years the dress will be gone or the fibers of the dress will be dead. You need to invest in quality to use it for a long time.

Quality is all about better construction. If you are going towards quality over quantity then definitely with the help of few tips, the dress is going to last long without any tear and wear.

Ironing:

Ironing is another factor that can bring beauty to the fabric but it can also weaken the fibers of the fabric. Every fabric has its own capacity and if you are going to provide more heat to the specific fabric then the fibers will be loosened and you can see the yellowing of the fabric. This is absolutely painful when something like that happening to your favorite dress.

At the time of ironing, I always prefer to use the smart amount of heat suitable for the fabric. In this way, you can definitely increase the life of the dress and can wear it years later. To save the fibers of the dress from getting damaged, always use a press cloth. It will help in transferring the appropriate amount of heat to the fabric.

Consider the following situation, you have a folder called HelloWorld inside the folder Gamers under your [bHome[/b] folder

Now, you want to access its content, say Hax1010.txt

The absolute path would be /home/Gamers/HelloWorld/Hax1010.txt

However, the relative path will be different depending on where you access the folder from. Say you open the terminal inside Gamers, you will want to open the file with ./Hax1010.txt . The single dot denotes the use of relative path, in this case, this folder.
