RTX 3050 support
RoundDuckKira Jan 31, 2022
Pretty much the title. I snagged a 3050 for $329, sure AMD would be nice but that's $450 and admittedly hurr durr RTX hype that also even exists on Linux somewhat. It's not here yet but will be tomorrow or the next day after.

So my question is this, when will 3050 get support, and if there's a beta driver, how do you install it on Fedora 35? I tried the RPM Fusion instructions and that didn't work, and I really don't want to have to purge the old drivers hard just so I can manually install the beta 3050 driver.

It's odd because they usually have a day-1 driver available for all their GPUs, they never give a timeline though and none of the current driver pages list the dedicated 3050 as supported. Perhaps this week then?

Actually, the previous 510 Beta was seemingly marked as stable and supports it: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/driverResults.aspx/184999/en-uk

That driver only lists three GPUs as supported. This is honoured by the driver search. Very strange.

Yeah that's weirded me out too about this driver, but this probably explains why I'll never be able to find this in a repo. Damn it. I reaaaaaalllly don't want to have to install a beta driver manually on Fedora...

That's for the lower end Ampere and Turing MX-class laptop GPUs. Notice it still doesn't say 3050 yet.

That's so bizarre tho, you'd think even now that support would be in but I guess they're not in a hurry to support Linux when the stock of their desktop GPUs are, well, you know. Out of Stock.

Oh you're right, I misread that second one.
