Its a very sunny Saturday here…… New Years Eve as well…… So I wish all you a happy new year and that the penguin smiles on you all during 2023….
This week has been a good week…… Did nothing for Christmas and it was wonderful……. Its been very quiet here in town….. Most of the shops are closed for the Christmas/New Year period……. And wont be open again until January 3rd……. Means the walks have been a lot quicker with way less people to talk to….. It also means Rufus has not been around so I have not been able to walk him…….

Christmas eve and its a robot football game…. Its yet again another good fun arcade football game….. Playing as robots is rather cool and interesting twist on the usual football games…… For 1989 the game looks nice and the game play is also good for his time….. Doesnt quite hold up now like Football Frenzy…... But still a dumb fun time…...

Daze Before Christmas (1994 Sunsoft) - Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Platformer
Wow……. So this is Christmas huh???…… What did I do to deserve this????…… The game is BORING!!!!…… The platforming is meh mostly because the camera is so zoomed in you cant see where you are jumping to…… The sound is not bad….. And the graphics are really nice with very very nice sprite work……. Santa and all the enemies look fantastic……. Seriously the sprite work is the best part of the game by far………. There are 24 very short boring levels that culminates in a very boring boss fight…… I would rather eat soup out of my own boots than play this game again……. Cha cha cha……..
NCAA Football 11 Steve Austin Road to Glory
I have started a Road to Glory (Career Mode) on NCAA Football 11…….. I created a 6’ 4”, 284 pound Running Back by the name of Steve Austin and as per the Road to Glory game mode he is the only player I can control on the team……
After going through the pre season scouting drills……. Steve Austin was in high demand with offers coming in from schools all over the country……. In the end Steve Austin went to Boise State University……. The Boise State Broncos are unique in that they play on a blue turf field…… dubbed “Smurf Turf”….. And I felt it would be nice to do something different to play games on a non green field……

After 4 days of training and 1 day of studying…… I added the attribute points to Austin (in which most of them went into speed)……. And picking his playing number……. Austins number is 47……. It was time for the opening game of the 2010 NCAA Season……..

Steve Austin all dressed and ready to play his first game for Boise State………
(Sadly this is the home uniform…… The away uniform is white)
For the opening game of the season the Boise State Broncos traveled to Virginia to face the Virginia Tech Hokies…….
After winning the toss and electing the receive…….. Steve Austin got his first touch of the football in his NCAA career and the Boise State linemen blocked perfectly and opened a huge hole for Austin to run through…….. Who then juked the safety to score a 78 yard rushing touchdown……. The first TD of his career…….
From them on it was one way traffic as Boise State racked up an easy 70-14 win…… With Austin racking up 7 rushing Tds and 3 receiving TDs to have a hell of a debut……. Also breaking the schools record for rushing touchdowns and rushing yards in a single game……. That will put him right into the hunt for the Heisman Trophy after the 1st week…….. The speed attribute is so OP in this game…..

Next game Boise State will travel to Wyoming to face the Wyoming Cowboys…….
As for my plans for Road to Glory…... Its to play 1 game per week and do a quick little run down of it…… Max I can do is 4 seasons in NCAA Football 11 Road to Glory mode……. After that…… I might recreate Steve Austin in Madden NFL 12 and continue his story into the NFL……. My main goal of course is to win the NCAA National Championship for Boise State and to win the Heisman Trophy for myself…….
Mario Sports Games for the GameCube
As you could see from the list of games I have played I played all four Mario Sports games on the GameCube……. And I feel the need to talk about them here…… They are all fantastic!!!…… No joke….. Mario Superstar Baseball is the best baseball game I have ever played…… Mario Power Tennis is also the best tennis game I have ever played……… Mario Golf Toadstool Tour is one of the best golf games I ever played…… And Super Mario Strikers (the only one named “Super Mario”) is the best Soccer game ive ever played……
All four of these games are fantastic and need to be played by any one who has any interest in sports games……. They totally shit all over the Disney Sports games……..

As for the upcoming week……. I have nothing planned for New Years as I will be working…… As for the rest of the week….. I doubt there will be much going on….. Its going to get hot here next week…. And I hate the heat…… So I will be indoors playing games I think this week…….
Speaking of games….. I will be starting another career for a completely different game…… And I will of course continue the Steve Austin career……. I will also been getting back to the Ninja Turtles and Kirby games…… As for anything else I dont really know…… Depends how hot it gets and how long I spend inside…..

First up is the bodacious brawler, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, which, as far as I remember, is my first native Linux title in one of these weekend threads. This game is genuinely awesome - it's really fun to play and packed with charm, it flows great, and it even opens with an animated intro in the style of the 1980s cartoon, complete with a new recording of the theme-song!

Second is Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, a low-stress and very chilled-out modern Bubble Bobble sequel, which I originally owned back when I had a Nintendo Switch and re-bought during the Steam Winter Sale. It works perfectly under Proton, has a nice Toy Story-inspired aesthetic and, well, story, and offers local multiplayer for up to four people. Cute and fun, and quite a bit easier than the original arcade-games - a nice change of pace.

Third, and probably the most surprising entry, is Doom (1993). I got this and Doom 64 in a couple of mystery Steam-key bundles recently, and found that, if played only a level or two at a time on a handheld using the default settings, they're abstract enough to not trigger the motion-sickness that I typically get from first-person games. FPSes are far from my favourite genre, but this was a pleasant surprise, as it means that I finally get a chance to play through these titles.

And last but definitely not least, I'll be ringing in the New Year by revisiting Bomberman '94 for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16. This is one of my favourite Bomberman titles, and the one that's been re-released the most, as it best encapsulates what the series is all about. This one's a well-balanced joy to play, and it'll be fun to go through it all again while I'm waiting for more news on the upcoming Super Bomberman R 2.
I'm always game for a laugh, so I'm glad to have been able to help out. Sorry for sticking you with Daze Before Christmas on Christmas Day, though! Cha Cha Cha!

With Stadia closing down a lot of my friends that got back into video games and video gaming nights are returning to local video games and just sticking with they own already. It was the easiest way for them to game on the hardware they owned. Tried a few times to get into Steam but due to a mix of random issues requiring complex fixes, toxic online communities and overall game just being disappointing the few of us that started Steam account closed them out and deleted.
On the plus side a little less than 1/2 of us really liked PiePacker which is now jam.gg. Picks up our controllers, has built in comm and can make it so we only see and play with ppl we know. That has been a hit for random game nights.
Micro Mages and Xeno Crisis have been the best games on there but we also got a few rounds of Tekken 3 in during the year.
My same ppl are into boardgames and that been excellent this year. Now that everyone is settled and safety measures in place board game nights that use to be 1x a month are now 2x to sometimes 3x a month which is great. I still have my own board game nights with my fam and local friends (ppl within 3 blocks from me) but the large gatherings have been great.
DC Deck Builder, Marvel Remix and Cthullu Fluxx are like the top games played this year.
I personally tried to get back into solo gaming with no much to show for it, TBH. Almost every game I purchased had an outstanding issue and I just refunded. Last night I just closed/deleted all accounts. The only stand out experiences have been on the freeware Linux scene.
If On A Winter's Night, Four Travelers is the best - new to me - game I played. The execution and story line is perfect the experience still sits well with me. I sent to a few friends and the ones that played it loved. For me going forward, I think I will stay in this space that itch.io has when I can play a freeware game then tip the creator at my leisure. It seems to be less headache and more satisfying.

Not much gaming for me this weekend. I might do Night of the Rabbit this afternoon, if I can manage it.
I have today off, but it is sandwiched between a late night shift yesterday and the start of my morning rotation tomorrow. I used to get home around midnight from work. Now I'll be reporting to work at 0630 in the morning for the next three months.
It does mean much less gaming time for me (along with less time for working out and cleaning), so I'll have to do some schedule reconfiguring (and stick to it)
