Also hurt my back this week…… The dish washer was not toilet trained and piddled all over the kitchen floor……. And sadly parts of the floor got warped……. So while ripping up the warped floor to replace it I hurt my back….. So now I have a sore back and half a kitchen floor……. I will hopefully get around to finishing that job next week…… If my back gets better…...
As for gaming this week in Emulationville I played…….

Dick Trickle at the track ready to race…….
Dick bought a new engine and a new exhaust system after the last race…… And spent the week installing them into the car…… This was hopefully his ticket to getting straight into the A Main without needing to race his way into it via the B Main…….

Exhaust Upgrade…….
Dick got in the car after installing the new engine and exhaust and pushed the ignition button……. The new engine shook the car as it roared to life…… As Dick vibrated in tune with the engine a big smile was seen across his face…...
After some tinkering with the setup and running in the new engine….. Dick set off in qualifying hoping to secure a top 10 spot……. And he easily managed to do that…….. Setting the 6th fastest time in qualifying and securing him the 3rd spot in Heat 2…… His best ever qualifying result in the dirt series…….

Dick Trickle lined up ready to start Heat 2…...
After the successful qualifying Dick Trickle was not going to blow it like last week…….. As the green flag dropped for the 5 lap heat race……. Dick stuck it deep up the tight gap on the inside of turn 1 to claim 2nd spot on the exit of turn 2…… Dick Trickle was still down on power compared to the top guys as he was never able to catch John Rafter……. Dick had to settle for second place…… Which would see him go straight to the A Main for the first time in his career and starting in 4th spot no less…...

Heat 2 Results…….
The 63 lap A Main would require more strategy from Tricky Dicky as he was about the 5th or 6th fastest car on the track……. So to keep 4th would be a hard task……. Dick sat on the infield wall beside his car having a smoke before the race and thought long and hard about his strategy…… He knew he had to keep the car clean and stay out of trouble to get a good finishing spot……
As the green flag dropped though…… Dick threw the strategy guide out the window and stuffed it deep into the first corner just like in the heat race……. Making some side to side contact with the cars on the outside and causing a big crash as 3 cars slammed hard against the outside wall……. But in doing so just like in the heat race Trickle claimed 2nd spot…… Tricky Dicky knew that that took out 3 faster cars as well so a top 3 was all but assured with that manoeuvre…...
As the race went on either Dicks car got faster or the leader Mark Hunter was getting slower……. Dick was reeling in Mark at a rapid rate…… And by lap 10 Mark Hunter had a Dick up his exhaust…… Trickle with the help of lapped traffic would slip up the inside of Hunter with out any issues…..
The crowed cheered as the 60 year old dirt series rookie took the lead……. Dick was able to hold onto that lead until late in the race….. Ted Finger emerged as a threat as he was catching Dick at a rate of knots…… Finger was trying to get up the inside of Dick but Fingers front left tyre touched the grass apron and he spun the car with just 7 laps to go……
Dick Trickle took the chequered flag to win his first ever Dirt Series race in his rookie season by 1.8 seconds over Zach Zins with Joe Fazioli rounding out the podium……
Dick made everyone around the podium wet and sticky as he sprayed the champagne after his victory…..

Lee Corso picking the Boise State Broncos to beat the University of Idaho Vandals……..
In the perfect football conditions under the dome the Broncos coach was hyping up the team…… Making sure they wernt going to lose to a conference rival and staying focused……. Reminding them that there are no excuses for playing poorly under the dome……
After losing the toss the Vandals elected to kick off……. This was a huge mistake as giving the ball first to the Broncos saw them score very quickly as Austin received a nice pass and sprinted up the sideline to score a long range touchdown at put the Vandals on the back foot early……
Austin turned into a bulldozer with the ball in his hands as he decimated the Vandals defence……. Running them over and knocking them down like skittles……. Running in 7 rushing touchdowns and matching that with 7 receiving touchdowns……..
The Broncos defence was just as devastating as they held the Vandals scoreless throughout the game…..
The Vandals just had no answers and were never in the game right from kickoff…… As the Broncos racked up another comfortable win 103-0 to move to a 9-0 record…...
The Boise State coach as very happy with their performance and they now travel back home to face another WAC Conference rival in the Fresno State Bulldogs…….

Shock Troopers
Shock Troopers ia a run and gun game made for the Neo Geo arcade machine in 1997…… It plays very similar to Desert Assault…….. In that the player has more freedom of movement and is not stuck on a 2D plane like Metal Slug…… But the player can move around the screen like a beat ‘em up and there are even vertical sections as well…….
The controls are nice and tight……. Being able to shoot in all 8 directions……. Tapping the fire buttons means you shoot in the direction your facing……… Holding down the fire button locks the shooting in that direction while be able to move freely……. Its a very nice way of handling the aiming problem any arcade run and guns face…..
The weapons are varied….. Similar to Metal Slug you can pick up different weapons with limited ammo…… The usual Heavy machinegun…… Minigun……. Flame Thrower……. And even a Spread Shot are here plus a few others that all help to add variety and keep the game from getting stale to early…...
The graphics as always in the Neo Geo are really nice and colourful…… With excellent detail and the sprite work is also really well done…..
The storyline is…… Well……. There…….. Bad guys kidnapped scientist daughter…… Force him to create super soldiers with a drug that he invented……. You have to stop the bad guys……. Its the usual stuff…….
There three routes that can be taken…… Mountain Route, Jungle Route and Valley Route…… They all lead to the same place for the final showdown but this does add replayability as you can only do 1 route at a time….. So you can play the game 3 times and get 3 different experiences besides the final level……
Each of the 8 Shock Trooper character are slightly different….. As they all have a unique “bomb”……. One is like a gas grenade……. One is a boomerang…….. etc etc…… Besides that I didnt notice any differences between them…….
Overall this is a really good solid game…… Very much overlooked by Metal Slug which is a shame as this is still a game very much worthy of your time…..
This Week
As for this upcoming week….. I need to finish the kitchen floor…… Hopefully the weather has cooled down enough and I can get back walking and annoying the towns folk……. I dont think there is much else to do this week as the kitchen floor is the big job I need to do before anything else…….
As for gaming there will be more hard Dick Trickle action in NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona……. NCAA Football 11….. There will be yet another TMNT game….. I swear they never end..…… And most probably yet another Kirby game…… Another series that seems to never end…...
Well thats it from me…… Have a good week everyone……
Now for my bad joke of the week……
Q: What do you get if you cut a clock in two???
A: Halftime....

The Super Bomberman mini-marathon continues this weekend with Super Bomberman 2 (SNES) - the game that introduced the Five Dastardly Bombers, and took everything good from Super Bomberman and ramped it all up. It also adds new elements like bundles of dynamite as part of the layout of some stages, which can set off MASSIVE deadly chain-reactions that'll take you out as well if you don't watch where you're standing!

I'm also playing a different maze-chase title this week, in the form of Ape Out (Proton). Maze-chase titles are relatively rare these days, with the genre's main surviving franchises really just being Pac-Man and Bomberman, so this 2019 release featuring a gorilla who has to escape from human captors has proven to be a nice surprise. It features procedurally-generated stages, abstract and almost comic-bookish visuals that move really smoothly, and a neat jazz soundtrack that responds to your actions. It offers a nice challenge because, although the gorilla is very powerful, you need to use those abilities carefully and strategically, due to him being outnumbered and outgunned, as is the norm for this genre.
There are also a couple of games that I'm putting a bit of time into during free moments;

Last but not least, this week was another pinball-light week, but here's the latest score update in my Alien Crush (TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine) ending challenge: 255,768,300 out of 999,999,990.
Hahahahaha, I actually genuinely liked this one!
