I have no plans to close off the forum, ever, so no worries there. The problem is that traditional forums just aren't popular any more, since real-time chat has become so good like Discord, Telegram, What's App and the list goes on.

Problem is: all the real-time chat apps are crap for search engines, if you want to find an answer you need a forum or an article.

The only one above this issue is Reddit, because it managed to somehow remain popular through it all.

I totally agree here. Getting support on our discord is good for the user who needs help (if they have discord). However it has the downside of not leaving said question and answer on the internet for the next person searching for it.

It's ironic, because people will complain about having to answer the same question over and over, which naturally will happen when there's nowhere to find said question and answer when searching.

Even IRC used to have public logs which could sometimes aid in finding your answer.

Thankfully most Linux distros have extensive documentation which should cover most basics.
