G'Day fellow tuxers.......
Im sure many of you here have never even heard of Motorsports Games........ And to be honest..... Its probably a good thing that you dont.....
Motorsport Games....... Currently holds the exclusive video game rights to many motorsports series...... Including NASCAR...... World Endurance Championship..... British Touring Car Championship....... IndyCar Series........ They also spent a lot of money in the past few years buying up developers and publishers....... such as 704 Games and Studio 397 to name just two.....
The last "game" they released on PC was NASCAR 21 Ignition........ And it was so bad and so broken they gave up on it...... Just look at those Steam reviews.... Ouch.....
To keep the NASCAR video game rights they had to release a game last year..... So they crapped out NASCAR Rivals..... ONLY on the Nintendo Switch........ Which was resoundingly panned by everyone who played it...... Which from what I could find..... Was about six youtubers....
Motorsport Games did have a trick up their sleeves through........ They have the even older and much better NASCAR Heat 5 game.....they can make DLC for........ NASCAR Heat 5 itself is a totally bare bones modern day Madden like update to NASCAR Heat 4 for the 2020 NASCAR season...... NASCAR Heat 4 was developed by Monster Games and published by 704 Games..... Motorsport Games bought 704 Games after the release of NASCAR Heat 4....
So anyway...... for this year Motorsport Games released a new DLC pack for NASCAR Heat 5..... And that came out today........ NASCAR Heat 5 - Next Gen Car Update (2022)
And ohhhhhh boy do I have big problems with this craptacular DLC.......... And btw...... I have not bought or played the DLC...... Its so bad...... Its broken parts of the game without even needing to buy it.......
First off...... Even if you dont buy the DLC you still have to download it........ And when/if you do buy the DLC..... You just download a text document with the code in it to unlock the DLC that you were forced to download already.......

My NASCAR Heat 5 DLC Folder with the DLC unlock text documents.....
But wait theres more....... They somehow managed to break all of the 2020 PAID DLC....... When I bought the game in the last Steam sale I bought the Ultimate Edition with ALLLLL the DLC...... Cause it was only a few Dollarydoos more than the base game....... Now I dont have access to any of that DLC....... And im not the only one with this problem.......

As you can see the yellow section is now gone in the second image where it tells you to press X to select paint scheme.....
Now I have to wait and see if they are going to release an update to fix this problem or not I might never get access back to the DLC I paid for...... Including that beautiful American themed car above.....
NASCAR gaming is in such a weird space right now...... That really the only option is to blow it up and start again........
Earlier this year Motorsports Games reported a loss of $35.9 Million for 2022 and the CEO stepped down.....
And Motorsports Games wants to release a World Endurance Championship game called "Le Mans Ultiamte" later this year..... I wont be touching that until it goes on MASSIVE discount..... If its any good at all.....
I might have to really start looking at getting NASCAR Racing 2003 season working on Linux.........
Anyway sorry for the rant....... This just really pissed me off so much...... It really shouldnt have pissed me off this much but its been a bad week so its all compounded in this rant.... Find out more tomorrow in my Weekend Players Club post........ Anyway..... I feel much better now..... Thanks...

This sounds familiar. It's how Nintendo has traditionally handled DLC in some of their games.
Oh yikes! That's sub-EA/Activision/Ubisoft level!
How on Earth did it get to the point that all of this big-name stuff is controlled by a company most folks won't even have heard of?
It doesn't sound like it'd be worth the hassle, honestly.
I'd bet that the chances of this are higher than the chances of the new content that people've paid good money for being fixed.
It's understandable - since you've unnecessarily lost access to what you've paid for, it's virtually daylight robbery!

Even EA/Activision/Ubisoft always have a functioning store front and working DLC......
I can answer that....... Motorsport Games is a subsidiary of Motorsport Network
Virtual DLC cars gone....... VIRTUAL-ly daylight robbery....
I see what you did there...... Cleaver Girl

Right now I'm willing to give the upcoming Forza Motorsport a try, and that's from Microsoft. Truly desperate times ...

EA/Codemasters are the only ones that can make a Formula One and WRC games........ Motorsports Games are the only ones that can make a NASCAR and IndyCar and BTCC and WEC games......... Reiza are the only ones that can make Stock Car Brazilgames....
No competition means they dont have to try that hard........ Just put in the bare minimum...... And that totally sucks for us the consumer......

See the two different coloured wheel rims???...... They are meant to be both red....... Thats the coloured wheel rims bug from 2020....... Motorsport Games brought it back in the latest update.......
After seeing that when trying to have a race........ I went F this game...... I ended up using the Steam Console to roll back to a previous version of the game and turned off auto updates for NASCAR Heat 5........
All the DLCs are working again....... And there are fewer bugs.......
I dont get how they could have screwed this up so badly.....
