Dick Trickles Racing Career: Part 37
NASCAR Dirt to Daytona: Part 37
2005 Featherlite Modified Series Season 2: Race 3

Intro music…... Hello and welcome to Left Turn Heaven….. Im Murray Eastlake and today im going to be bringing you all the action from the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series: Round 3 of 11 here at Welch Valley Racing Complex……..

Welch Valley Racing Complex…….

Welch Valley Racing Complex is 2.22 miles long with 9 turns….. This is the only road course the Featherlite Modified Series attends…… The turns are fast and sweeping…… The straights are very long….. You need a good all round car that handles very well for this track……. Being such a different track to anything else on the calendar really does mean anything can happen here at Welch Valley Racing Complex…..

Dick has been a very busy this week……. He raced in two Weekly Dirt Racing Series events……. And as per usual…… He won both of them…… As the Infogrames Flaming Dick Machine has been unstoppable over the past few years…… So another two wins and another two victory nights with Pussy Galore……. Dick will be looking to carrying that form here to the Modified Series……. Can anything stop this Dick???…….

2005 Weekly Dirt Racing Series: Round 2 of 10…...

2005 Weekly Dirt Racing Series: Round 3 of 10…...

Dick Trickle humiliated the entire field last week at Crystal Lake Raceway…… And he will be looking to do it again here today…… Last years champion Jason Sulivan will be looking to stop him……. He was not a happy man after last week with just how fast Dick was in qualifying……. Francis Lee, Joel York and William Anderson will be looking for a win to kick start their championship campaigns……..

Its only round three…… Its still anyones championship…… They just need to stop Dick to get it…...

Dont touch the sets...... Dont touch the dials...... You wont want to miss a single moment of the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series....… Practice and qualifying are coming up right now……

Dick Trickle at the track ready to race.…

Dick did a few laps to check nothing was wrong with the car before pulling into the pits and leaving it alone…… He was using the same setup he used here last time when he won…… And that was all he did during the practice session…… He spent the rest of the time relaxing and playing with Pussy Galore…….

Qualifying was up next……. And Dick set a blisteringly fast time as the Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine set a time of 1:14.290….. To claim pole position…… He was a monumental 5.5 seconds faster that second place……. And it was not last years champion Jason Sulivan……

Second was Gray Soros who shocked the field setting a 1:19.780……. Third was David Canepa with a 1:20.479…….. Fourth was Mike Hemeseth setting a time of 1:20.844……

And rounding out the top five was Andy MacNamera with a 1:22.596…… Wow what a qualifying session……

The road course sure was a road curse for Jason Sulivan who could only manage the eighth fastest time in qualifying…… William Anderson was just ahead of him in seventh…….. Francis Lee was way down the list in eleventh while Joel York could only manage to get the thirteenth best time in qualifying…….

Qualifying Results....…..

Dick Trickle lined up ready to start the race......

Dick Trickle led the field to the green flag for the 21 lap race……… With the unusual sight of Gray Soros alongside him…… Soros tried his best to drag race Dick and Soros did have the preferred inside line for the turn……

But Dick drove hard and hung it around the outside of turn one to take the clear lead exiting the turn……..

Unlike Gray Soros…… Mike Hemeseth was able to use the inside to get past David Canepa through turn one……. But Canepa was not giving up and was trying to fight back through turn two…… He had to be careful though as Andy MacNamera was right there ready to pounce if Canepa made a mistake…….

William Anderson and Jason Sulivan were battling hard over seventh place…… Sulivan had a lot of ground to make up and needed to make it up…… Fast…….. Anderson was not going to make it easy for Sulivan throwing some excellent blocks through the first lap to keep Sulivan at bay…..

Out front and it was smooth sailing for Dick……. He already had a huge lead after the first lap and was making the rest of the field look silly……

Gray Soros and Mike Hemeseth were continuing their battle….. With Hemeseth taking second place for a short while……. Both men seem to be enjoying the road course action this weekend……

Other drivers like Jason Sulivan were not as he failed to get past William Anderson and was now firmly in eighth place……. And starting to lose touch with Anderson…….. He was not looking happy in the car……

Further up the field and David Canepa had found a way past Andy MacNamera for fourth place…… The two were battling hard and both were relishing the fight for a top five spot…… MacNamera was not going to back off either as he stuck to Canepas rear……

At the half way stage Dick was gone…… Like a detachable penis and there was no getting him back……. He had nearly lapped the entire field and unless the Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine suffered a mechanical failure……. There was no stopping Dick today……

Gary Soros and Mike Hemeseth were continuing their great battle for second as Soros was back past Hemeseth….. Meanwhile David Canepa had opened up the gap between himself and Andy MacNamera……

Just past the halfway point of the race and DISASTER STRUCK…….. Jason Sulivan was on the side of the track with smoke bellowing from the car….. His engine had exploded in spectacular fashion……. His race was done and dusted as he slams his helmet on the bonnet of the car in frustration…….. His title defence crumbling before his very eyes…….

As Dick drives past and sees the stricken Jason Sulivan on the side of the track…… I could almost hear Dick laughing from here…….. As both men flip either other the bird……. There is no love lost between the two of them…… And Jason Sulivan is now in a big hole championship wise……. Dicks gonna be super happy after the race and Pussy Galore is gonna see a lot of action tonight……

Mike Hemeseth has now dropped well away from Gray Soros and is now falling into the clutches of David Canepa……. Who is now pressuring Hemeseth from the rear……. Not many laps left….. Can Hemeseth hold on………

Andy MacNamera is in a solid fifth place and is looking safe to keep that spot……. While Gray Soros is also looking safe to keep second……..

As the chequered flag waves Dick Trickles takes another Dominating Dick win……. And opens up a nice gap in the championship with Jason Sulivans DNF……. Its truly a great day to be a Dick……

Second was Gray Soros who drove a fantastic race……. Keeping the car nice and clean…… Gray is a very happy man under that helmet and its a great moment for the team……. He was 1 lap behind Dick…….

Mike Hemeseth just managed to hold onto third place……. He was second for a while but was not able to maintain that pace throughout the race……. He is still very happy with third as that is a great boost for his championship standings…….. He was 1 lap behind the winner…..

Fourth was David Canepa…….. Who just ran out of laps to pass Mike Hemeseth……. He had another great race and his team will be thrilled with the top five finish today…….. He was also 1 lap behind the leader…….

Rounding out the top five was Andy MacNamera……. Who had a solid drive but just did not have the pace to challenge the top four…… He will also be happy with a nice top five finish today……. But he was 2 laps behind the winner……

The road course is well known for throwing up different results and thats why the fans love it…….. William Anderson was seventh…… While Francis Lee could only manage tenth…….. Joel York was way down in twelfth……… And last years champion Jason Sulivan was dead last in twentieth…..

Sulivan was not a happy camper when he finally got back to the paddock area……. He was fuming to say the least……. He was last seen kicking objects and yelling obscenities at his team…… Three races in and the championship is already starting to slip away from him…...

Race Results..…

After the race Dick did his usual victory burnout right down the main straight……. The smoke was immense and the cheers almost deafening as the capacity crowed were all on their feet cheering on Dick……..

Dick finally made it over to victory lane…… The first person to greet him was Pussy Galore….. Shes almost as excited as Dick…… I managed to catch Dick for a few words…… “What a day to be a Dick Murray……. This is the best outcome I could have asked for……. This road course race really jumbled up the order and then seeing [Jason] Sulivan on the side of the track like that was a great surprise……. His luck had to run out sooner or later……”

“The Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine was awesome today……. It could not put a wheel wrong…….. The team did a fantastic job getting this car prepped during the week…… I could not fault this car at all…….. Having a great team around me makes my life so much easier Murray……..”

“I think we now have around a 100 point lead in the championship……. And without looking I dont think [Jason] Sulivan is in second anymore…….. This has been a huge swing in the championship for me…… But we are only three races into it…… So I need to make sure we dont fall victim like he did……. We need to knuckle down and concentrate on next week……..”

“Back to the ovals next week Murray……. And I expect [Jason] Sulivan to be strong again next week……. So I need to make sure I keep my head in the game….. Its far from over yet……. You know what is over now though Murray???…… This interview……. I need my victory time with Pussy Galore now……. We have a lot to celebrate”

Well there you have it folks……..

Next week the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series heads to Mankato Raceway….. The one and only time we visit that track this year……..

Dick now has a 100 point championship lead…….. Gray Soros is now second in the championship and last years championship Jason Sulivan has dropped all the way down to fifth……. The road curse was very real today and it has really jumbled up the championship……..

Can Dick Trickle continue is winning ways and extend his already 100 point championship lead???…….. Or will Jason Sulivan bounce back from this horrendous round???….. Can Gray Soros transfer his great road course form to the ovals???….. Or will Francis Lee return to top oval form???…….. This race really has thrown up a lot of questions……..

Tune in next week for the answers to all these questions and more….. Exclusively here on Left Turn Heaven……..

This is Murray Eastlake reporting for Left Turn Heaven..... And until next time its goodbye from me....

Rugby 08 World Cup……..

Australia vs England

Australia came into the Quarter Final match as white hot favourites to steam roll the Poms……. And……. That did not happen…….. The English put up a great fight…… And even got a early try to nab a 7 point lead……

Australia was a little rattled in the early stages……. It took them while to find their feet…… It wasnt until around the 20th minute before the Wallabies had decent field position and where able to capitalise on that soon after as they got a try of their own….. Levelling the scores at 7-7……

The English were playing with a purpose and that was to slow down the ball as much as possible at the ruck…… And they were doing a fantastic job of it……. Legally stopping the ball from coming out many times and forcing scrums to frustrate the Australians as half time came the scores still 7-7……

The second half got underway….. The Wallabies had a lot of the ball and not much to show for it……. As the English defence was stiffer than Dick Trickle……

Finally with the use of quick hands through the backline the Wallabies had created the overlap they needed on the edge to score a brilliantly worked try……. To take a 14-7 lead with 20 minutes to go……

England was now in a hurry watching their world cup hopes slip through their fingers they started to make a few more mistakes……. And none more devastating than a penalty for a dangerous tackle in a very kickable spot…….

Australia took the easy 3 points on offer to extend the lead to 10……. But England was not giving up…… With 5 minutes to go they had a great attacking line-out opportunity 5 metres from the try line……

But the Wallabies were able to steal the line out and sealed the win for the Wallabies 17-7 in a very tight hard fought contest……..

Australia will be moving onto the Semi-Finals……

Only 4 teams have a chance of winning the Webb Ellis Cup now…….. Australia, France, New Zealand and South Africa…….

Next match will be Australia vs New Zealand…..

Australia vs Bangladesh……….

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl…. Mark Di Venuto made the most of the fielding restrictions…… Scoring 22 of the first over…… Mark Waugh tried to join in on the action But was out for 4 in the second over…… Steve Waugh came out again early in the match……. And joined Di Venuto in banging the Bangladesh bowlers all over Hyderabad…….

Mark Di Venuto fell shortly after as he miss timed a slower ball and was out for a quick fire 37……. Greg Blewett was the next batsman in….. And he was happy to knock the ball around and get quick singles and twos while supporting Steve Waugh who was timing the ball very well…….

The run rate had slowed a bit as Bangladesh was using all their spinners to great effect……. But Waugh and Blewett where still going at a nice pace pitting up lots singles and twos…… While making sure every bad ball went to the boundary…..

Greg Blewetts luck ran out when he chopped the ball onto the stumps while trying to steer the ball down to third man…… He had made a nice 35 for the team…….. This brought Michael Beaven to the crease…….

Steve Waugh made his third century of the tournament with a huge six straight back over the bowlers head……. With the overs winding down Beaven was not hanging around hit quite a few boundaries as he made a handy 34 before being caught trying to hit one to many boundaries……..

This brought out Adam Gilchrist to bat for the first time this tournament……. And which very little time left in the innings he was still able to make a nice little 15 Not Out…….. Along with Steve Waugh who was 137 Not Out………

Australia ended the innings 4/274……..

In reply Bangladesh never stood a chance…….. Glen McGrath and Shane Warne were just unstoppable……. With McGrath taking two wickets and Warne taking four…… And with two run outs the ten wickets fell in no time…….

Bangladesh as quick as a flash where all out for 38 off just six overs…… As Australia won very easily by 236 runs…… And Steve Waugh was named Man of the Match for the third game in a row…….

Australia vs New Zealand…..

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first…… And it was a very good decision….. As Australia rolled New Zealand for just 134….. With all four bowlers taking wickets……. Ian Harvey was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets……… While McGrath, Warne and Steve Waugh took 2 wickets each…….. Australia needed 135 to win……

The Australian openers continue to have a torrid time in India……. Mark Waugh out for 3 off just two balls…… and Michael Di Venuto followed soon after for 19………

Greg Blewett came and went for a quick fire 12 runs……. As did Michael Beaven also out for just 12………. Australia wanted this game over quickly and where happy to throw away wickets to get it done…..

Steve Waugh was again the stand out with the bat…….. Scoring a very strong 77 not out……. While Adam Gilchrist made a very nice 14 not out to end the match……..

Australia very comfortably ran down the score…….. And they only needed 7.3 overs to do it…….. As Australia won the match by 6 wickets……. And Steve Waugh was named man of the match again…….

My somewhat-spooky-themed pick for this week is quite different to the norm for me, but I saw it in Fanatical's Build your own Fall Bundle 2023 and it piqued my interest. It's a hidden-object game called Looking for Aliens (Proton), and it turned out to be a really nice change of pace for me.

Looking for Aliens is presented from the perspective of comical tourism-loving aliens observing and commenting on Earthlings while they visit our planet. Humourous little skits between alien TV-show hosts are shown between levels, and occasionally they interview a human who thinks that he's onto the aliens and their plans. It's very chilled-out and charming, and I'm really glad that I picked it up. Key-bundles, whether they're mystery or build-your-own ones, tend to be good for getting me to step out of my comfort-zone and try new things.

I'll also be putting a bit of time into Bail or Jail (Obakeidoro!) (Proton) again, as I haven't played it in a while.

This is a spooky-themed cops-and-robbers game, developed by Japanese indie outfit Free Style Games and picked up for PC publishing by Konami, which has unfortunately been rather overlooked due to an almost complete lack of marketing* (the original Nintendo Switch version, simply titled Obakeidoro!, was self-published and got even less traction).

*This seems to be a Konami problem in general at the moment. Some fans claim that they're "targetting" the Bomberman series, but that's just not true - they're just as silent for Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill as they are for Bail or Jail and Bomberman.

The Steam version offers some free Castlevania-themed DLC, so as usual I'll be playing as Alucard, since he's a cool guy.

On Friday evening, after clocking 125.4 hours with the game, I finally finished achieving Grandmaster status in all of the online modes in Super Bomberman R 2 (Proton), and got the final three cosmetic unlockables relating to this. I don't like the practise of tying unlockables to online play, but at least it's all done, now!

At this point, I'm unsure if I'll return to playing online with randoms, as I much prefer playing video games with friends and family, whether that's online or offline. As was the case back when I did my time in competitive (albeit with different games), and as I've unfortunately also witnessed here, due to Nintendo never cracking down on cheaters leveraging their easily-hacked consoles there are already bunches of cheaters showing up in this game, even in versions not on their platforms. You know where they're coming from because Sony and Microsoft do take action against cheaters on their consoles, and if you turn off crossplay almost all of these dubious individuals disappear. I commend Konami and HexaDrive for not inflicting anti-cheat rootkits on their customers - cheaters will bypass it anyway, and it only punishes and compromises the security of genuine players - but I am not so happy about Nintendo constantly and consistently allowing its users to pee in the crossplay pool. This is probably the entire reason why Super Bomberman R 2 provides an option to turn crossplay off, and that's actually goddamn sad.

Anyway, what else is there to say? I absolutely freaking love this game, and if any other GOL'ers have it or pick it up, please drop me a line and we'll set up a match!

I have been playing Kona II Brume this weekend. The icy chill of Canadian winter, an ornate mansion to find your way through (rooms and doors and keys to open rooms to find keys to open more doors... with a puzzle to open the secret passage that has the intel you need etc.)

It has you driving a little motor boat in blizzard conditions, then next you have to take a dog sled to get to your next destination.

I've had to drive a lot of vehicles in games, but this is the first time I had to drive a team of dogs. It made me look for all these dogs and bribe them with pig's ears before I could use the sled, mind you lol

This game is a bit of a futhermucker to find your way through
