Intro music…... Hello and welcome to Left Turn Heaven exclusively on the Crass Racing Association Programming..... Im Murray Eastlake and today im going to be bringing you all the action from the 2006 Craftsman Truck Series: Round 2 of 14 here at Darlington Raceway……..




Darlington Raceway…….


Darlington Raceway is 1.366 miles long with 25 degrees of banking in turns 1 and 2 while having 23 degrees in turns 3 and 4…… This egg shaped oval is one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar…… Known as the “Lady in the black” and the “Track to tough to tame”….. Darlington requires a very good all round car and setup to make it around here fast…… And with this circuit being so narrow….. Passing is very difficult so pit strategy will be the key to getting that track position at the end of the race……

Dick Trickle has been a busy man this week and not just with his wife Pussy Galore……. Dick has won not one….. but TWO Featherlite Modified races during the week……. The Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine continued where it left off last year as he won both races with relative ease…...

2006 Weekly Dirt Racing Series: Round 2 of 10……


After his win at Daytona last week Matt Crafton will be looking to continue that form here today…… The Scumbag Rock Crawford will be looking to bounce back and get a good result to get his title defence back on track……. While Travis Kvapil will be looking to avenge the loss to Crafton last week…….

The 2005 Featherlite Modified Series Champion Dick Trickle……. Made a sensational debut Craftsmen Truck Series race last week….. Finishing 9th…… Using pit strategy to perfection with the help of his crew chief Dick Seaman and also the help from his spotter Jacques O’Ften………

Dick Trickle will be looking to get another top ten finish here at one of the hardest tracks in all of NASCAR…… If he does so he will claim his main sponsor objective of two top ten finishes in just the first two races of the season………

I had a quick walk around the paddock earlier and noticed Dick had quite a few updates on his truck already…… That money from winning the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series sure did come in handy as he picked up a new engine, suspension and even some aero parts for the Sears Craftsman Die Hard Dick Machine……..

Dick Trickle at the track ready to race.…[/b]


Dick Trickle and Dick Seaman spent a lot of time in practice sorting out the truck…… Working on everything from gear ratios to grill tape…… They seemed quite happy after practice ended……… The truck wasnt super quick but for a learning weekend with brand new untested parts they were doing just fine…...

Qualifying was up next……. And it was Robert Pressley who took pole position with a time of 32.167 just 0.05 seconds ahead of second placed Lance Norick who set a time of 32.213…….. Both men will be very pleased with that result……...

Third was Travis Kvapil with a time of 32.366……… With Bill Lester taking fourth with 32.7764……..

Rounding out the top five was the Scumbag Rick Crawford who set a time of 33.041……. Its a real pity to see him doing well……

Dick ended up inside the top ten…… Which is exactly what he needs to do…… Setting a time of 33.677 to take ninth place……. His sponsors will be very happy with that qualifying performance…….

Dick Trickle lined up ready to start the race..….


Robert Pressley lead the field to the green flag to start the 68 lap race…….. As the green flag dropped Dick got a great start and was right to up the rear of Brendan Gaughan in the early going……

But as the laps ticked away the clear truck advantage Gaughan had was more evident as he started to drive away from Dick…….. Dicks spotter Jacques O’Ften was busy on the radio trying to clam down Dick……. While crew chief Dick Seaman was busy sorting out the race strategy and making sure the crews were in position ready to go…….

Dick was able to get passed a few trucks and was up to seventh place before Harrol Bundy put his truck into the wall…… This bought out the first caution of the race…… The two Dicks were busy butting heads over what the right strategy call was…… Dick Seaman erected his authority as crew chief and won the argument making Dick Trickle come in for some fresh rubber and full tank of gas……..

Dick Trickle was not happy as most of the field did not pit under that caution and was on the radio to Dick Seaman to express how just unhappy he was with the situation……. “WHAT THE *BEEP* *BEEP*ING *BEEP* HAVE YOU *BEEP*ING DONE I WAS IN *BEEP*ING SEVENTH NOW IM IN *BEEP*ING FIFTEENTH….. YOU *BEEP*ING BRITISH BASTARD!!!…..”

As the green flag dropped to restart the race Dick was on the outside and with nowhere to go through turns one and two he had to just follow the trucks in front……… Soon though the top lane started to move and Dick was well on his way inside the top 10……. The lapped traffic was playing havoc with the leaders as they were all mixed together after the caution……..

Dick managed to get up to ninth and was having a great battle with Jon Wood…… They were very evenly matched…… And were constantly swapping positions……

And then it was Bobby Dotters turn to have a spin…. Narrowing missing the outside wall…… Bringing out the second caution of the race…… This started another flurry of radio activity……… Dick was just outside of the pit window and had about half a tank of gas left…….

This time both Dicks where in agreement that this was a good time to pit ……. And it seemed most of the field agreed with them……. As nearly everyone pitted during the caution period…… As Dick came down the pit lane he lit a cigarette…….. while Dicks well lubed pit crew did a fantastic job and send him back out in quick time while Dick was still smoking……

As the green flagged dropped to restart the race again……. Dick was in fourth position and was eyeing up a top five finish……… This time though the top lane didnt move at all as the race leader Travis Kvapil missed a gear…… Dick nearly penetrated the rear end of Bull Lester but was able to avoid him with some heads up driving……..

Jacques O’Ften quickly pointed out a hole that has opened up on the inside…. Dick didnt need a second invitation and thrust the truck into the gaping hole that had opened up for him……. As he penetrated through the hole he found himself clear on the inside and also found himself in the lead of the race……

While the Sears Craftsman Die Hard Dick Machine is no match for the top five or six trucks he was in the lead and even crossed the line to get the bonus points for leading a lap……. Dicks lead didnt last long as Travis Kvapil and Lance Norick quickly passed Dick relegating him to third……

Bobby Dotter then got in on the action the pass Dick…….. Followed soon after by the Scumbag Rick Crawford……….

Dick then found himself having a ding dong battle with Bill Lester who was clearly faster than Dick but was having a lot of trouble with lapped traffic…….

With 10 laps to go Dick was was in sixth and was right up Bill Lesters rear……. Most of the field now only had a few more laps of gas remaining in the tank……. And with no other caution in sight it looks like we will be looking at green flag splash and dashes to the finish……..

With 5 laps to go both Dick and Lester headed to the pits…….. Dick drove much harder into the pits that Lester and locked up the front brakes trying desperately to get down to the 55 Mph pit lane speed limit……..

Both Dick and Bill took on a splash of fuel and no tyres……. Dicks crew was just a tad more lubed up than Lesters crew and he was able to leap frog Lester in the pit lane……..

Bill Lester was not giving up though…… And was all over Dick……. Dick was able to use the lapped traffic to almost perfection to keep Lester behind him who was having way more trouble through the traffic than Dick was…….

With just 1 lap to go Dick slid up middle of two lapped trucks and Bill Lester was not able to follow Dick through……. This gave Dick a bit of wiggle room just as they come to the final lap…….

As the chequered flag fell to end the race….. Travis Kvapil takes the victory after leading most of the race….. Thats the way to bounce back after a narrow loss last week…...

Second place was Lance Norick who while fast just couldnt hang with Travis Kvapils long run pace…….

Third was Bobby Dotter…… Who made a great recovery after that spin earlier in the race……. He was lucky enough to avoid the wall and not damage the truck at all……. He will be happy with that result thats for sure……

Fourth was the Scumbag Rick Crawford……. Sadly he will also be happy with that result and that will unfortunately get his title defence back on track……..

And rounding out the top five….. The Craftsmen Truck Series rookie sensation Dick Trickle…… Who had another sensational drive to grab a top five finish……. What a season he is having already……. He is certainly sending a strong message to the other competitors with this result……. He is well in the championship hunt already…….




Race Results..…


After the race Dick came back to the paddock area with a huge smile on his face…….. He had just came to the “Track to tough to tame” and got a fifth place finish the first time around…….

Dick got out of the truck and was embraced by his wife Pussy Galore…… I needed bear mace to get Pussy off Dick…… After Pussy let go it was my turn to grab Dick to get a few words…….. “Not bad for a first time date with the Lady in black hey Murray……. The truck is still down on power a bit but if we keep making improvements to it and keep working the strategy right we are easily a top five team at any track…....”

“Was a very good race from the outset…… I would say on raw pace we are around the seventh best truck out there…… So not to shabby for a rookie truck…….. We will keep working on the Sears Craftsman Die Hard Dick Machine and we will get there…… Just like with the Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine and the Infogrames Flaming Dick Machine we will keep on improving it every week until its the best in the field…….”

“Im very pleased with this result….. Means a good chunk of sponsor money for us at the end of the season now with two top tens already……. Martinsville next week Murray……. Could be another good race for us…… The tight paperclip circuit will certainly hide the downside of our underpowered truck…….. Im expecting big things next week……. Will see you there Murray……...”

Well there you have it folks…….. Another race has been entered into the great book of motorsport…...

Next week the 2006 Craftsman Truck Series heads to Martinsville Speedway….. For the one and only time this season……..

Travis Kvapil has laid down the gauntlet with this weeks performance……. Can he carry that onto Martinsville???……. Can the Scumbag Rick Crawford get back to winnings ways or can Matt Crafton get back in the winners circle??…….. Can the rookie sensation Dick get another top five finish???……. Or will another name rise up and take the glory of victory???…...

As for why I keep calling the Scumbag Rick Crawford a “Scumbag”…….. There is a very good reason for that…….. the Scumbag Rick Crawford was a real Craftsman Truck Series driver…….. Who is now sitting in jail…….. In 2018 The Scumbag Rick Crawford was arrested, charged and later convicted of "attempted enticement of a minor" when he was caught in a FBI sex crime sting operation……. He is currently serving a 10 year 10 month jail sentence…….. The Scumbag…….
