For me it was a hard road to making the game playable on Linux, but this week I did it :)
What I did is:
- downloaded and build wine-git (only for 32bit since I will this build only for SWTOR)
- applied patch https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47704 (from bug https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29168 )
- downloaded the files from https://github.com/aljen/swtor_fix
- installed vcrun2008, d3dx9, winhttp
- modified launcher.settings based on the launcher.sh file (change BR to SSN)
- read this post: http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=5374253&postcount=2
- created two files based on the post above. You can find them on Wine site: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=27088#Comment-92783
You should have the game on an SSD to make it a lot more faster, or at leas the Assets folder on an SSD.
There are some issues still:
- if you hover over objectives on the map the game will crash
- if you change video setting while not in character select the gae will crash
- there are some weird blinking textures (this is random)
With these settings and the video settings set to medium (no shadows!) I was able to get 90 FPS while travelling around Balmorra and on the star fleet.
I hope this helps someone!
My specs:
I7 3770k OC to 4.5Ghz
MSI GTX680 2GB
24GB RAM
ArchLinux x64
