It's time for a light-hearted cutesy-robot game this weekend, with Doraemon: Nobita no Dorabian Night for the PC Engine.

!Doraemon: Nobita no Dorabian Night 02
The game is a colourful platformer by Hudson Soft, and it sees the earless robot cat from the future, Doraemon, having to rescue his friends after they misuse some of his futuristic gadgets and get themselves stuck inside the worlds of various storybooks. It's very loosely tied in with the 1991 movie of the same name, which was released a few months before the game.

Hahaha, that's a new one - a retro-gaming-themed joke, nice idea.

I've played The Spirit and the Mouse for the second time. The game length is probably exactly right – like last time, I feel like it could be slightly longer. There is still something wonky with the light bulb hints. I couldn't find the last four and had to buy at least eight hints to get the map symbols.

It should have healed up by now – it was more than 175 years ago.

What has happened there? Is that supposed to be snow? Very low-res fog? Ice?

It's a nice chilled-out little game. Slightly weird controls in places, but it's from before certain things were standardised in the genre, so it's easily forgivable (for example, you can catch certain ledges by holding Up on the d-pad, but to climb them you have to mash one of the face-buttons - later on, the genre would settle on catching being automatic and climbing up being done by pressing Up or the jump-button). I'm enjoying it so far.

!"That sign can't stop me because I can't read!"

Last weekend I had a bit of a burnout on Factorio (yes, it's possible, who knew?) and instead I decided to finally complete all achievements of another one of my favourites: The Talos Principle. Messed up the first attempt and I was over half way until I figured out that I couldn't get them all. Restarted and ran through the necessary things as quick as I could. Actually shocked myself by completely finishing the game in only 3 hours and 30 minutes. Not bad for speedrunning without practice. In fact, if I leave the story stuff, I'm sure I could do it in under 3. Maybe I'll give it a go at some point.

Since that took me way less time than I expected, this weekend was the perfect weekend to start completing Half-Life 2 achievements. And with the merging of the two episodes, there are a lot more to get than I expected. So this is not going to be a one evening job. Especially considering that there are a few finicky ones like finishing episode 1 while firing only one bullet. But going well so far. Finally got through Ravenholm with only the gravity gun.

I've collected some of the missing gold scores/ski passes/etc in Grand Mountain Adventure, but there are still many more.

Gaming on Linux is such a rewarding experience once you get everything configured. Ensuring compatibility and performance can sometimes feel like placing a strategic bet, testing settings and tools until you hit the jackpot. Speaking of strategy, I’ve been exploring Manitoba sportsbooks lately for some entertainment, and it’s been a fun way to mix gaming with real-life action. For anyone interested, here’s https://onlinecasinomanitoba.com/manitoba-sports-betting/ more about it. Finding the right tools makes all the difference.
