Steam Deck 2 - what would you like to see?
Stella 2 days ago
Since it seems like Steam Deck 2 is all but confirmed by Valve, what do you think it needs most? Apart from better performance.

I feel like it desperately needs more RAM/VRAM, 16GB is a bit on the small side. I feel like 24GB would be ideal. The Steam Deck can crash when RAM is fully saturated by games, which is obviously a bad thing. Also the performance would improve because it would need to rely less on virtual memory.

A second USB-C port would be nice, both for durability and for the ability to connect things while it's charging without having to use a dock.

A bit smaller and at least 1080p for me.
A release in Australia and New Zealand?

About the only comment I have is to have the fans less noisy. I don't even like playing it in a crowded room / bedroom because if I'm playing a demanding game it gets LOUD. So: better thermals, better fans, better pipes, better something!

I don't need a beefier model. What I want is a Steam Deck Pocket. As in, actually fits in my pocket.

Last year I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus, just an impulse buy because it was on sale dirt cheap. Ended up liking it so much I wish I'd bought a more expensive model with analog sticks. Meanwhile my Deck still gathers dust.

The shell is basically perfect, I don't think they need to tweak the design of it at all since the OLED upgraded all the internals.

The main thing I want to see is an upgraded APU and a bump to 24GB RAM. I don't even think the screen needs a resolution update, as that's kinda fine really. The APU and RAM are the main things though, too many newer games coming out that even on the absolute minimum can't hold anywhere close to 30FPS at 800p.
