It's a weekend, the sun is shining in a rare event for where I live, so naturally I will be spending my time playing Linux games. What will you be playing this weekend?
Personally, I'm going to be jumping back into Rocket League. Between the intense gameplay and sweet music, it's certainly in my top 10 most played Linux games. As much as I love the game, I'm simply terrible at it. Anyone who's watched some of our livestreams will attest to that fact, but even so I soldier on and keep playing. It truly says something about a game, to keep pulling you back in even when you know you're probably go to have loss after loss.
It always amazes me seeing people drive along the roof of an arena, to then boost through the air with pin-point accuracy and smash the ball right into the goal. I still haven't been able to wrap my head around those sick aerial jumps.
As a reminder, Rocket League and others are available in the The Humble Hooked on Multiplayer 2018 Bundle. I will be looking to setup a few more GamingOnLinux tournaments soon!
After that, likely more Phoenix Point, as they did recently release the Linux version of the backer build! I'm already incredibly impressed with the level of detail and how it feels mechanically. It might blow XCOM 1/2 right out of the water, which for me is a pretty tall order because I absolutely adore both XCOM and XCOM 2. More on that in a future article once I can gather some thoughts on it.
Finally, more time eating people in MachiaVillain, will have thoughts up on that ASAP.
Over to you in the comments!
Thinking about multiplayer with other people, but the host is the only one to keep the savegame so I don't want to play with total strangers.

I'm also planning on some coop sessions of Dying Light on nightmare with a good friend of mine. He just upgraded his pc an needs to finish the main game first, then we'll probably take a look at "the following" dlc
Sad that this one does cause lots of trouble with mesa, even if it should be an easy task to support it by now.
I've also got back into Minecraft in a minor way over the last few weeks. Just single player, but I'm sure I'll be noodling around in that at some point too.
Also, with the Monaco GP next weekend, I expect I'll have a bash round the streets of the Principality in F1 2015 sometime this week, if not over the next couple of days, to remind myself how mad it is.
I picked up Mankind Divided last night but was disappointed with the performance, will probably end up uninstalling it tbh :(Yeah, it's pretty poor. It's a good game though; I ended up playing it on more or less the lowest settings and had a good time with it despite everything. Those loading times, though...
- finishing on Algo Bot, a programming puzzle gaming starting easy and having a nice difficulty rampup, and/or
- buy and continue Bear With Me (the free first episode really helped me decide on this one!), an adventure game being cute and dark at the same time.
I am moving from Windows 10 this weekend to Ubuntu 18.04 I am going to try all my native linux games on Steam. I dont know if i will be able to only run Linux but im going to try.
May I ask why you're moving?
Possibly some Terraria (my children have started playing it again and I had forgotten what a massive time sink that game is)
Much as I love playing Rocket League, I gave up in it because of toxic idiots ranting about losing a team game blaming everyone except themselves and quitters leaving as soon as the first goal goes in. If things have improved on that front, I might give it another go. But I'd need to be convinced that poisonous comment levels have dropped.
- Brutal FreeDoom - Unloved
- Tales of Maj'Eyal
- Protostriker M
- The Fall 2: Unbound
- Xonotic
This wad recommended to me awhile back and I got it running but never ended. I just got to the point where I got a red skull key. Totally lost in the maps but I am loving it.
I've been playing this game at night for about 30 mins at a time before going to bed on my bedroom HTPC. My wife loves the music and like to read out loud the story as it unfolds. She also like to heckle me when I make a dumb move and get my character killed.
I am on the search from SHUMPs that are no twin stick shooters since I hate using the sticks on modern day gamepads. I just want a gamepad and buttons to enjoy my games. This is a great little freeware gem. I am about it end this one as well.
Still on the first level of this game. I loved part 1 and I am eager to see what's in this game. I just ran enough of it to make sure it runs excellent on my machines and it does.
I have guest coming over tonight for drinks, potluck dinner and fragging. I have 16 machines ready to roll but due to weather only 12 are coming. We doing no bots then 1) Domination 2) Last Man Standing 1 Life Each and 30 Deathmatch. Winner gets bragging rights.

- The good: Long and polished game. Good music. It's difficult enough to enjoy the achievements but not too difficult. I love metroidvanias.
- The bad: I'm not a fan of retro graphics in general. Some mechanics are not explained anywhere and that's frustrating sometimes. There are some non-official manuals to solve that though.
