The demo looks good, but from what I read in the forums it seems to be using a draconian DRM system. Requires an online connection to play and your key is banned if used twice at a time. Can anyone confirm it please? I would love to be wrong.

Edgar,
there's no online activation, nor requirement for an Internet connection to play, but when you buy a copy you should not run the game on 2 PCs at the same time per EULA instruction (you can install on several PCs without problem, though).

I'd very much like to try this, but get the error that libcurl.so.4 could not be found. I've tried installing the curl libraries (those that weren't installed beforehand, but to no avail.)

If you're on 64bit, you'll probably need the ia32libs installed. Fixed it for me. Fun game!

i686 arch linux:
./TennisElbow2013: /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4: version `CURL_OPENSSL_3' not found (required by ./TennisElbow2013)

Thank you very much for the clarification. Therefore when a key is banned, only the network play is affected. Right?

Be careful with the forum thread about key thieves. I got the wrong impressions there.

Edgar,
you won't get updates as well if you share your Key. (Note: there's no online mode on Linux & Mac)

Mike & jose,
on 64-bit Linux, you have to install 32-bit libs, as explained by "Anonymous"...
Something like this might help :
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
If you find the way to fix your issue, thanks to report it.

ia32-libs does not make sense on 32bit (i686) linux. i solved it however by downgrading curl. still, it'd be nice to have it statically linked

ManuTOO,
I did not realize you are the game author. I appreciate your effort for giving support even outside your own channels. You got a new customer here.

Just one last question, I promise. If I buy Tennis Elbow in Desura, will I get the Linux version too?
Thank you.
Edgar 31 May 2013
Oops, I forgot the put the name in the previous post.
ManuTOO 31 May 2013
jose,
ooops, sorry, I stuck on the "i686" and thought it was a x64... :-S
I'd rather not statically link Libcurl as it may have some specific builds according to the different distributions.

Anonymous,
At this point, it's unlikely that the Linux version will be released on Desura.

But, would I get a key that I can use to activate the Linux demo or the keys are per-platform?
Thank you.
ManuTOO 1 Jun 2013
Edgar,
the Keys are per store, so a game bought on Desura won't get you anything on Mana Games and vice versa.

hi jose you downgraded curl to version??

yup, but then later i extracted the working curl version to the game directory and run it via LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./TennisElbow2013. still hope developer will fix this.

also, i think that it should be mentioned somewhere (visibly) that linux version does not support network play.
