Passant: A Chess Roguelike is an upcoming Chess-like roguelike that will challenge your brain, and it's going to have full Steam Deck support at release.
This is definitely not normal Chess by any sense of the word normal. The rules can be twisted in your favour and special unique pieces can be used to change the whole game. In Passant you build your board by earning powerful pieces with unique rules, items to change the tide of battle, and badges which can synergise with your board to deliver victory. Beat match after match of increasing difficulty until you can beat the final boss and become a grandmaster.

Writing in an update on Steam the developer said: "This is an announcement that Passant will fully support the Steam Deck. I've built the game from the ground up to work on the steam deck and controllers and I've been mainly testing the game this way."
How it expands Chess:
- Unique pieces, such as the Archbishop, Dragon Knight, Dragon King and more!
- Rule changes, such as Atomic Chess, Reflecting Bishops and Zombie Pawns.
- Items that can be used once to give you an advantage, such as freezing a piece, demoting a piece to a pawn, or promoting one of yours to a queen!
It makes use of the open source Fairy-Stockfish chess variant engine to ensure you get a good challenge.
