Announced originally during the Realms Deep event in 2021, and later released into Early Access on Steam in 2023, Fortune's Run is a highly rated immersive-sim FPS but now its future is uncertain. The game is playable on Linux with Proton and is rated Steam Deck Playable by Valve.

While a brand new update is out now adding in quite a lot, this looks like it may be the last update for quite a long time. The developer posted an announcement on Steam, noting they've been "sentenced to prison for the next 3 years". This is not some recent development as their case is "about 5 years old now". They don't go into specifics other than mentioning they were "a very violent person".

Since "Dizzie" is the only developer on the project, it's not clear what will actually happen to the game now. They're clear they want to finish it though, once they get out of Prison that is.

Its also avaliable on GOG even though the Dev mentioned that at this moment at least he has no access to the GOG account to push the update there as well.

Any publicity is good publicity? I prolly wouldn't have checked out the video otherwise. The video showed some cool vibes.

I am curious though what country they are from. Because prison can mean severely different things depending on the country. I wouldn't be surprised if one could continue developing their game while in a prison in a Nordic country. 😀

Five year justical run for something that can put you in prison for three years?
That's... quite something.

It sucks that the dev has to disclose some personal details to explain why he won't be able to continue work on the game, it invites unnecessary assumptions and judgement from online strangers who are in no place really to even know about such condition in the first place.

That's a shame, I really enjoyed what I played of Fortune's Run so far.
If I were a superstitious man, I would swear someone put some kind of hex on anyone that makes an Immersive Sim-type game. Something always goes wrong during development.
