Fortune Avenue is Monopoly but not as you know it. A hyped-up and colourful spin on the classic game, with a rather different way to play and it's highly competitive. Developed by Binogure Studio in Godot on Linux, the same developer behind City Game Studio.

If you've ever played Monopoly you'll understand the basics. You each pick a character and move around the board, building up your collection of properties. Fortune Avenue is far more chaotic though with you all voting on various rules throughout the game, and you can even buy-up someone else's property if you have the monies for it. There's a fair amount of random events that happen during each game to keep you on your toes too, there's always something going on to keep you interested.

Giving you the ability to buy-out others is quite fun, and frustrating at the same time. Nothing is safe in Fortune Avenue, especially when you get to spin the wheel of fortune, and end up with a card that allows you to free up any city to remove a building. You can really mess with others in it.

There's a demo available for Steam Next Fest that's definitely worth checking out. With Native Linux support it works great. I think Fortune Avenue could end up being a favourite, especially as we don't see a lot of board-game styled titles like this and it's a genuinely fun twist on a classic.

Valve have also rated it Steam Deck Verified as of the latest updates to it. Nice to see that ahead of release.

Features:

  • Dynamic Board Elements: From melting ice floes to bustling airports, every corner of the board holds a surprise.
  • Strategic Rule Voting: Every 12 dice rolls, players vote on new rules that can drastically alter the game's dynamics.
  • Speed Up Mechanism: A helicopter targets the poorest players, ensuring a fast-paced game that minimizes frustration.
  • Elimination Bonus: Gain a $100K bonus for each player you eliminate, adding a competitive edge.
  • Anti-Cheat Measures: With physics-based dice and wheel of fortune, plus advanced obfuscation and VAC, the integrity of the game is maintained.
  • Rich Multiplayer Experience: Peer-to-peer connectivity with a robust recovery mechanism ensures seamless gameplay.
  • Diverse Game Pieces and Boards: Choose from 12 unique pieces and explore 4 different themed boards.
