
With no announcement anywhere the SteamOS information from the Shadow Warrior 2 Steam page has vanished. They previously had a SteamOS icon ready and SteamOS system requirements, both of which have just—gone.
It's pretty sad news, because this indicates it won't be a day-1 Linux release.
I hope no one pre-ordered, because you might want to look at cancelling it until there's some clear information as to what is going on. That, plus, pre-ordering is dumb.
I've tweeted and emailed them today, so hopefully I will be able to give you some sort of update on this. There's also this forum post asking about it by another user.
I'm personally sad as I seriously wanted to give it a try and with no communication from the developer (like we wouldn't notice it suddenly vanishing), it's a bit of a sketchy situation right now. Why silently remove it without a simple announcement anywhere?

Look like on this game should working Leszek Godlewski, I don't know If he only working for windows version or working or it and also making Linux port like before with Painkiller and Deadfall Adventures in Farm 51.

Depressing, I was(am) really eager to play this game and despite the multitude of AAA disappointments that have struck this year I really thought FWH would deliver. Still I hope it´s just a temporary snafu.

The Steam depots are in place, so I don't think it is cancelled or anything like that ;) And a delay is not a tragedy for minor platforms.Well all know games that have depots that we are waiting on though, having a depot doesn't really mean all that much any more, indicator yes, but with them silently removing Linux info :(

The depot information does not appear to be too useful yet. Linux/Mac depots are half the size of the Windows one. And the game does not appear to be updated on Steam yet. So I doubt there is active beta testing going on through steam at this point.

Who buys games on day one anyways? They are usually buggy, require multiple patches, and has content locked behind paid DLC and season passes. Plus, there are Steam and GOG sales in addition to G2A and Kinguin.

It might be delayed but at least it won't be delayed as long as the first game was.

I emailed Devolver Digital almost a week ago now about this (well, about the lack of any mention of Linux on GOG's store page) and this is what they told me:
There won't be a Linux version at launch, similar to the first game. Sorry but the team does plan on having one and it will be DRM-free as well.

As Liam said, don't buy from those. It's worse than piracy - fraudsters get your money, the developers don't get paid and legitimate distributors like GOG etc. get hit with fees for the fraudulent transactions.

The port was generally good, except for a pretty major pulse audio bug that completely froze the game at almost every video until I switched to a virtual terminal and killed pulse audio. Don't know if they ever fixed that. Hopefully they can do even better since it was planned from the start. I just hope they are at least working on it, they do have at least one Linux engineer; Godlewski.

For me it's not a big deal if they can't reach a day-1 release. They may have encounter some big issues and I understand the situation..

I have no idea why this is happening because the developers/publishers act like "ok don't say anything, maybe they won't notice"!!!
I can't stand these situations! They have no problems when taking the pre-orders money and advertising Linux/Mac everywhere but then they don't even have the guts to say why the game is not coming day-1 and when it will be available.

Yes, but I'd strongly recommend waiting until the Linux version is available before buying to ensure that it'll get counted as a Linux sale.

I'd also recommend to wait, since plans can change. Better safe than sorry. Use a rule - don't buy until Linux version is available (unless it's crowdfunding, which is a separate story).

never experienced this. And i played 6 hours straight with 1 sitting.
It may have been somewhat Fedora specific, or if you played somewhat recently it may have been fixed. It was ~2 years ago when I played it. I found the bad fix of killing pulse audio in a virtual terminal from someone through a google search so I was definitely not the only one.
