I'm a Linux gamer from Finland. I like reading, long walks on the beach, dying repeatedly in roguelikes and ripping and tearing in FPS games. I also sometimes write code and sometimes that includes hobbyist game development.
There are lots of so called roguelites on Steam but recently a real roguelike classic called ADOM, or Ancient Domains of Mystery, made its way to Steam. Let's go check it out!
It seems to be the season for new versions of excellent open source gaming projects. OpenMW, the open source recreation of the Morrowind engine, has a new version which brings important rendering updates.
After a long week of exams (school stuff, not medical) I'm glad I can finally sit down and relax a bit while playing video games. Naturally I'm going to take you with me on my digital adventures of epic and awesome, so sit tight and buckle up for the Friday Livestream!
A new alpha release of the open source RTS 0 A.D. has just been released. The new release has various technical improvements and a couple of new gameplay and AI features.
The new proprietary AMD GPU Driver named Crimson just shipped and I decided to take it for a spin in a set of benchmarks. So, let's see if we see any improvement in the performance of these drivers.
Oh I do love Fridays. The hard work of the week is over and I can relax and play some video games and naturally stream the whole process to entertain you, the GOL crowd. So once again, I welcome you to the Friday livestream!
ADOM, also known as Ancient Domains of Mystery, is a bit of a classic among roguelike games and the updated and enhanced version which was funded through Indiegogo is now available on Steam.
The Last Federation, a strategy game about creating an interplanetary federation, has received its second expansion which brings new technologies and a new game mode.
Winter is soon coming, if global warming allows that is. And what would be more fitting than playing some cold and dark games on a cold and dark day? That's exactly what we will do today!
So a little over a week ago the first ever GOL Game Jam came to an end and it's time to wrap things up, look at the games and naturally congratulate the winners!
For those that were unaware, it's Friday today. Yes, that day of the week which many of us celebrate because we are now, for a moment, free from the shackles of work, school etc. It's also the day we stream some games for you to watch, so that's also a thing.
As far as I know, it's now Halloween. It's pretty hard to keep track because everyone seems to start their Halloween weeks ahead of time but because I personally consider it's today, I think we should do a themed livestream. Cue the spooks!
Ever wanted to fly a high-speed interceptor in a big dogfight against a superior enemy force like in Battlestar Galactica? Well, it's possible thanks to Diaspora: Shattered Armistice! Let's go kill some toasters!
Submission phase for the first ever GOL Game Jam has ended and now begins the rating phase. You can now head on over to the jam page and check out all the entries and rate them based on a couple of simple metrics.
Yesterday I spent some time upgrading my main rig to Xubuntu 15.10. I did that because I heard of a PPA that contains Mesa drivers compiled against LLVM 3.8. What that means is that I can do GL4 on RadeonSI. And that's what we will do today!
I'm here once again to inform you that a Friday Livestream is here once again and, as always, we will spend a couple of hours playing games and talking about whatever comes to mind. You can naturally watch the mayhem as it happens live!
Recently I asked some opinions about us organizing a game jam here on GOL and I received a bunch of positive feedback and I will consider that a green light to go ahead with our plans. The event will hopefully start on October 19th.
After a pretty long hiatus related to my school work, I have finally returned to reclaim the GOL Cast throne. This time we'll be taking a look at Polychromatic, a recently released indie twin-stick shooter.
And once again we return after a week of that silly life stuff and play some Linux games for you live on air! You will naturally get the front-row seats to the show of mediocre gaming skills and barely funny jokes.
