About this game:
FS2 Open is the game engine for Freespace 2 and a bunch of standalone games. It's not actually open source, Volition gave it their blessing by releasing the code but under their own license so it's "code open" but proprietary.
Note: You do need to have the original data files for Freespace 2, you can pick up a copy easily on GOG.com.
