Great, I totally loved TW 2 back in the days.
It was one of my first games for PS3 and had a really interesting combat system, much better than in the TES-games...

In this regard its a lose lose situaton, some people will always view moderation as just someone shutting down opnions they dont like, but it you dont moderate the toxic stuff then the comments become a hate filled battleground.
I guess we will have to trust Liam and the moderators who manage this to be fair. What would perhaps be a nice halfway house would be if the comments moderates where instead of deleted where 'hidden' with the option for users to enable themif they really wanted to.

Just a heads up, PAYDAY 2 is currently broken again on Linux
By Dribbleondo, 21 May 2017 at 6:26 am UTC
I could talk about the basics of Payday 2 modding, but I don't forsee me talking about lua code at length, largely because A: I'm not that much of a coder, and B: It was a really, REALLY easy fix.
Also, Sort of self-advertisement, but I made a video about this particular matchmaking incident awhile ago where I talk a bit about QA testing: View video on youtube.com ,and again in April, specifically about Overkill and the "Search For Kento Event": View video on youtube.com

Feral have released the Linux requirements to run Shogun 2 with NVIDIA, AMD & Intel supported
By Shmerl, 21 May 2017 at 3:14 am UTC
As far as I know, Feral choose it. Which differs from porting companies which are hired to port something. In case of Feral, they propose other gaming companies to port the game (and to bear all the costs for it), and in return they ask to share the profit from Linux sales (however they measure that). At least that's how I understood it, others can correct me if that's wrong.
I mean it looks like they only pick titles to port which are owned by publishers who are pro-DRM (or against releasing in DRM-free stores).
By Shmerl, 21 May 2017 at 3:14 am UTC
Quoting: Doc AngeloQuoting: ShmerlI'm asking about why Feral pick only such cases to port. That's already something they choose.
May I ask why you are phrasing it like this? Is there an indication that Feral chooses for themselves which games they port?

Quoting: Doc AngeloOr do you mean that Feral has more contractual offers than they could handle and they are deliberately only picking ones with Steam DRM? That would be pretty cool, just because that would mean that the Linux market is so big, that Feral and Aspyr can't even handle all the requests. But I doubt that.

I don't really understand what you mean. As far as I know, none of games that Feral ported have any version on GOG.
By Shmerl, 21 May 2017 at 3:12 am UTC
Quoting: lucifertdarkBefore Valve started supporting Linux I had exactly ONE game that worked in Linux, I now have nearly 800.
How many Feral ports are for games that have been available on GOG as Windows only games? If the answer is None you have your reason why Feral only offer Steam keys.

One can fairly easily pay to have a reddit bot net upvote specific content/comments up. How often does it happen, hard to say...

That said for a small community like ours it's probably not needed.
I'm a bit surprised though to hear about toxicity and problems like that as I've never really experienced it on the comments. Or it was so minor that I don't even remember about it.
But maybe it IS because it's been tackled early on that I didn't see it ;)

I hope it does not disencourage new users, but thats pretty much all of my concern. But that's how reddit works and it works great IMO.

you can try MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.5COMPAT or 3.3COMPAT also. or 4.1COMPAT,
I also put env at the beginning of each, not sure if it matters.
I actually can't get mesa-git working on my Antergos install, the login screen for KDEPlasma fails to load correctly and I end up with just black-screen with moveable cursor. Shrug.

QuoteDoes this affect your freedom of speech if I think you're being naughty and idiotic and force the queue to always be on for you? No. Very few sites don't moderate comments, don't be silly.Too many people misunderstood what freedom of speech is anyway. You have the right to say whatever you want within the law, but nobody is obligated to grant you a platform from which to say it. Don't want to be moderated? Then start your own website where you will be able to exercise freedom of speech to your heart's content.

This was the first TW game I did not buy, having got to the point in 2011 that I would rarely buy Windows software; so I look forward to playing it.
I would guess that CA, or more likely SEGA, have contracted Feral to do the whole TW catalog, either as work for hire ( a specific fee or fees ), or on a royalty basis, which obviously disappoints @fabry92! But it makes sense for porting houses to do several games that have similar technology, as it lessens the cost per title. All their work will be the result of negotiations that probably do not allow them to choose to release the title wherever they please; they are not likely to be in the situation where they can simply "pick" which titles they port.
I am not personally bothered about games using some form of revenue protection, so long as it is non-intrusive. Computer games have always used a variety of methods to minimise casual fraud. Early ones made you enter codes obtained from physical game content, or use difficult to copy "key" floppy disks of CDs; later ones used fairly nasty virus-like mechanisms. The encrypted binary method offered by Valve ( used only at the discretion of the developer, these games do not ... http://steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games ), has never caused me any issues, and is certainly a far better than the old copy-protection schemes.
Any easily copied product has had the issue that, if people perceive they can get something for free, many will do so. DRM and other forms of protection will not disappear until that problem becomes insignificant.

Honestly i think you can be a bit thin skinned at times, i do. However, Toxic comments are a different bag altogether and I don't see any need for them, all sites have moderation or they turn into a complete shit show.
After all the effort that has gone into GOL over the years I think its easily the best Linux gaming community on the web now, it would be a shame if trolls and toxic comments ruined that. So yea, im on board with this.

Same, want current order kept or at the very least make it an option, plus folks end up gaming the system to get there comments higher vote wise anyways in communities like that.

Ideally you need a way to sort comments (imho a new intelligent formula that balances putting good comments (enabling up and down votes) and putting new comments at the top since, at the moment, comment systems that sort according to score are biased towards older comments) instead of subjectively restricting 'toxic' comments they could simply be downvoted by the community so that less people see them.
