Small site update in regards to the moderation queue, which is now live on article comments

Ideally you need a way to sort comments (imho a new intelligent formula that balances putting good comments (enabling up and down votes) and putting new comments at the top since, at the moment, comment systems that sort according to score are biased towards older comments) instead of subjectively restricting 'toxic' comments they could simply be downvoted by the community so that less people see them.

Sucks it has to happen, but I'm personally glad you're proactive about it. Thank you.

Side note, I just heard about Trollbots on the radio. Trollbots?!?! I knew about spambots, but a forum/comment bot to troll ppl?!?!? Wow!

We have our Wiki page: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/wiki/Games_broken_on_Mesa

Which I know Valve has looked over before. It likely needs updating, but it seems pretty active.

I am very aware that this is like, 7 months old, but hi, I'm the guy who fixes Linux Matchmaking, you're welcome =)

Have you considered doing an interview with GoL someday? I have no idea if Liam or the staff would be interested in it at all, but I'd be interested in hearing what challenges/etc. there are.

I've got an RX480 that I pass through to Windows and a GTX960 that I use in Linux, and it'd be interesting to see if I can pare that down to just the 480.

Gameplay video for this DLC is not working for me on Steam. I would like to see how this game looks like.

Does anyone have any idea how fast this game will run on something like a RX480 on medium settings with High textures ? Are we talking 20fps or 40fps + ?

Quoting: hakzsamThis doesn't break DXMD because ARB_bindless_texture is not enabled by default. Don't expect anything to be backported to Mesa 17.1.x because we only cherry-pick bug fixes, not features. Though, my work could be available via padoka PPA I think and should be in Mesa 17.2. Thanks!
Interesting thanks, i guess by day one support you meant for Mesa-git then?

Yes.
Interesting, thanks for clarifying, looks like the wording got us muddled up a bit there.

Also, while you're here, thank you for all the work you're doing!

Looks like the negative Steam reviews for TW2 focus largely on the registration/activation/DRM, which I take it is to be toned down in the upgraded version.

Switched to AMD myself; Gallium9 + wine makes a huge difference. I really doubt I'd ever go back to nVidia. Plus it's all opensource so that's awesome :)

Ah, it seems I neglected to put smileys on my earlier post suggesting such installation, having forgotten the unfortunate scarcity of levity-detectors among internet users.

Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit released, probably the best expansion to the game yet
By Purple Library Guy, 20 May 2017 at 6:04 pm UTC

There's a bunch in Caracas, capital of Venezuela. The shantytowns grew up in the hills around the city with no urban planning involved so when someone finally decided to pay attention to the poor folks, not only was there the hills issue but there weren't really any roads. Punching highways through everyone's homes would have been more intrusive than just putting up a big pillar every so often.
So in the game, I suppose potentially they could help with districts where you made some decisions that, in hindsight, were really rancid transportation-wise. ;)

Quoting: wojtek88I have finished the game in about 90%, from main plot I haven't finished only the last mission.
I haven't finished it because...
I don't have much time to play recently and whenever I start the Dying Light to finish last mission, the scenario is the same:
I start the mission and play it like any other mission. On the map there is a suggestion, that always points me to wrong place and I get mad and turn off the game...

However the game is golden and I can recommend it to everyone.

The game is good and the night sections really make you afraid of the super zombies.

As for the final mission , sorry to say but it is a mess. You're not missing out on that one.

Did you play the DLC yet ?

Quoting: LeopardIf we can grow (at least 1 percent) then i don't care but for growing we need much more top notch games. That is attracting people.

I agree with this part, and at same time, i mostly play "small indi games". So, sure, port AAA games to gather money, and port smaller ones too, to gather me and my kind.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWell, I dunno about in the game, but in real life they can be handy in very hilly areas where roads have to meander and grades are too steep for rail.
No doubt, I meant in the game :) Building on top of a steep hill or mountain still requires roads for services, but sure cable cars might be faster as in the real world. My initial feeling of them is just that it is rather niche and more for spicing up the look of the city.

Most of the time I've seen them in real life, they were used as a shortcut from the hilltop to downtown, in cases where the hill's steep side was facing downtown, so road access had to circle around the hill.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III releasing for Linux on June 8th
By Doc Angelo, 20 May 2017 at 1:42 pm UTC

Quoting: LeopardAlso it is a F2P title , so how can you expect to Feral make money on that?

Feral makes money by porting software and getting paid for it. Feral does not necessarily make money from a share of every sold unit. That depends on the contract. With F2P titles, they might get a flat amount of payment, or they might get a share of the in-game-revenue.

I'd rather we didn't have drm. But Valve have made it possible for me to have enough games on Linux that I really can jump ship. Which bearing in mind the way Microsoft are going with hardware support and the virus malware situation, I'm incredibly happy about. And these guys need to make money.

The Feral guys also read those comments over here and usually do comment if they feel like that. I'm pretty sure after the release there might be some more information given to us.

As long as there's no cross platform multiplayer confirmed I'll ask Linux Gamers not to buy the game. Feral really should learn there lesson not to release multiplayer games like this.

If they could fix that issue I'll buy the game instantly at the Feral store and recommend people buying. I might consider buying it also for friends who are playing Multiplayer with me then. (:

By TheRiddick, 20 May 2017 at 11:52 am UTC

I think there is trading and ship upgrades involved. I don't believe there is any structure building in the game, which makes me wonder if such a thing could be modded into it? I also don't believe you can land on planets or moons.

Quoting: ShmerlI'm asking about why Feral pick only such cases to port. That's already something they choose.

May I ask why you are phrasing it like this? Is there an indication that Feral chooses for themselves which games they port? I mean, they are like a translation studio: They add a language to an existing game, so to say. They can't just grab a game, translate it and sell it where they want.

Or do you mean that Feral has more contractual offers than they could handle and they are deliberately only picking ones with Steam DRM? That would be pretty cool, just because that would mean that the Linux market is so big, that Feral and Aspyr can't even handle all the requests. But I doubt that.
