Looks like Rome: Total War might be coming to Linux, according to Feral's port radar

I get that the porting effort is properly much lower after having done a few of the games already ( if it's made by the same people they properly made it the same way.. ) but I can't help but question the ROI here - it's a 13 year old game being released hot on the heels of a pile of "identical" but newer games in the same series.
But then presumably Feral knows what they are doing :P

Fantastic news!
I saw that this game had a Linux icon together with an ios one for some time but I thought it was a mistake..
This is a great because the game doesn't run great on Wine and I can't wait to play it!
Keep it up!

Instabuy! I don't have the time for TW games nowdays but... I can't go against my childhood with this game. I'm so nostalgic right now.
I didn't play the latest Total Wars but, IMHO Rome TW was the BEST total war so far. I appreciate a lot that Feral's brings this game to Linux! The ones that don't like Total Wars should really consider give a try to this one, it's not as complex as new ones and it's a lot of fun.

I wonder if it will work under SteamOS, as the Nvidia driver in SteamOS is the ancient 367.27.
Valve should stop using the SteamOS icon, as more and more games require newer Nvidia drivers than available in SteamOS.

It is clear by now that Feral have some sort of cookie cutter framework in place for Total War titles.

I think that Rome II is a better election than the first one, but is also welcome. I have been dreaming with it since it was announced that it would come to Linux/SteamOS

Yay, with Rome II (that is, if they port it), that's almost the whole collection we will have. (Maybe not the first Shogun, though).
Looking forward to support them in any way I can (though I already have these games).
It looks like these ports were worth it for Creative Assembly, unless they have some ideological motivation behind it (which I wouldn't mind, to be fair :)).

Ballistic Overkill is Steam-only game.
By Liam Dawe, 16 May 2017 at 10:26 am UTC
Quoting: AzPNo, Humble only has Steam keys for this game, you can see this clearly by the Steam logo with the platform icons inside the badge.Quoting: iskaputtCan this be bought on steam and then played without the steam client? Nothing 32-bits to ever touch my system.
Why would you then buy it on Steam? The Humble Bundle Store has the game, and I assume it is downloadable without Steam (it usually is).

Otherwise you can use alternatives to Steam, like itch or Lutris or some other that supports 64-bit natively.

OK, I'll give it a try. To be honest, I did not even hear about your game till yesterday, let alone saw it (and I am not keen on buying a cat in a sack). And currently Metacritic is not helpful at all… So, I need some time to evaluate the game properly (should probably watch some video on YouYube, read Steamcommunity etc.).
Hope your survey has reasonable life span (and will not expire, say, tomorrow). ;-)

On To-Do list - there are already other storefronts, but they are down the line, due to how few of us there is heh. 99% of them DRM-free. =)

Sorry, but have to reject the proposal. I will never buy a game from Steam™. :(
So, I will ignore the poll as both of the answers are unsatisfactory.

Victor Vran is one of the very few games I've actually played right to the end, it's a shame Lemmy isn't around to see himself & his band immortalised in the game. I'll be buying both DLC as soon as I can & I'll raise a drink to Lemmy while I play. :D

All very welcome improvements. I'm specially looking forward to the queue join system and being able to join a game while spectating it. When I start playing, most of the times, servers close to me are either empty or full so I have to spectate them first to see who leaves, and when somebody leaves, I have to quit the server, try to join in as a regular player which wastes a lot of time.
I also like to see new maps and new skins for both soldiers and guns. Hope they do something about the declining player base too. Maybe make it for free for a week.
