Witcher 3 has improved somewhat, in sunlit areas. But it still has missing surfaces, and there are some new distortions now:
FPS is lower than before too, but I'm not using full staging patches.

No matter what the case ends up being right now, this is not the way to handle it. What should have been done was to make an announcement explaining any cuts in support, what is and isn't considered supported anymore and why. Cutting down on support for one's last game to focus on a new one makes sense, but selling a game and then stating it's not supported (in a different place than the store no less), is absolutely not okay.
If they really want to go down this route, they should at least put a sticker on the Steam / GOG page explaining that they don't have the manpower (or whatever) to support the Linux version at this time and offer it at half price in exchange - for existing Linux users, maybe offer Xenonauts 2 for free or at half price as an apology.
For what it's worth, I backed their original Kickstarter precisely because they promised a Linux version (right after they posted "We’ll also be putting female soldiers into the game, and providing a Mac and Linux version of the game too." )

That may be, I didn't play the game yet. If the story there doesn't have any meaning, then not providing a selection is indeed more questionable.
We aren't coming here to "do the job" of arguing. We are discussing the topic, no? I don't see any problem asking to explain someone's position.

It's one thing if you have a generic character builder in a flexible RPG, but it's another thing if some story aspects are locked. Do you also refuse to play any adventure game, because they don't let you selecting the character? Games can be quite different in this aspect.

BATTLETECH, the turn-based mech battler from Harebrained Schemes has a new trailer
By slaapliedje, 12 May 2017 at 4:51 pm UTC
It's been many moons, but I swear they had a 'sniper' type, but as you said, it was basically a cannon you would have sit back and fire like artillery more than a nice quick sniper attack, then hide type of tactic.
The great thing about this game is that it's hard core Battletech+mechwarrior from all that I've seen, it's not like the Mechwarrior games, which were real time. Used to love the board game, it's like a more complex version of Ogre, which I wish Steve Jackson would create (or allow to be created) a new version of that game for the computer. I do still have my original Atari ST version laying around...

Message to the devels: please add a "Sniper" type Mech that can only fire from long distance. Maybe a one that has a shape like two legs and a big cannon over it.
I'm sure the big cannon over two legs is a phallic reference, but if you're after sniper setups, they don't really have them in Battletech. It's a massive mechanical battle machine, not something easily hidden. The closest you'll get is something packed with gauss rifles and LRMs. Or 'mech mounted longtom artillery.
Inner Sphere combat from the era they're setting it in is particularly close quarters (relatively speaking) and brutal. Also, anything with enough tonnage to field lots of and only long range weaponry had a tendency to get torn apart by smaller 'mechs that could out-manoeuvre, close the distance, and open up on weaker rear armour.

VK9, the open source project to implement d3d9 over Vulkan reaches another milestone
By GloriousEggroll, 12 May 2017 at 4:48 pm UTC Likes: 1
its designed as a windows dll which can be run with wine, which would allow programs running in wine to use that dll and send the vulkan translations to wine
basically its doing what wine does for dx9->ogl, except it works with wine and without having to recreate wine from the ground up since wine has native vulkan support, the dll would do the dx9->vk translations and wine would just read the translations instead of doing the translations itself. and because its in vulkan and not ogl it would ideally give better performance.
if anything it would be a neat add in for wine or even eventual part of wine like wine-staging's csmt

You sound upset. People have preferences. People like to play games with leads they can identify with. And yeah, there have been complaints by dudes about games that have female leads, even though there still aren't that many of them.
I've only played a bit of Victor Vran, and honestly so far I haven't really come across much that really requires him to be this particular dude. He's a bit of a cipher, you could swap him out for pretty much any gruff, detached character and have very much the same game. Is there something later on that contradicts that?
